Software Engineer, Connectors
United States, Canada, United Kingdom
Funded by premier investors including GV and Lightspeed, Redpanda is building the streaming data platform for developers. We’re evolving streaming beyond the Apache Kafka® protocol into a unified “engine of record” that delivers a categorical reduction in complexity, wicked-fast performance, onboard Wasm transforms, and transparent tiered storage that gives consumers access to both real-time and historical data from a single API.
About the Role:
We are continuing to invest and grow our Go-based Connector team at Redpanda. We are looking for a Software Engineer who is up for the challenge to not only build the systems and to lift Redpanda into the public cloud space, but also shape the technical culture that creates these systems. In this role, you will focus on developing and maintaining our Connector ecosystem, with an emphasis on open source development. You will collaborate closely with our Cloud and Core engineering teams to build robust and scalable systems, with an emphasis on stability and safe upgrades with zero downtime.
You Will:
- Contribute to our Connect open source repo
- Contribute to a Kubernetes helm chart to manage Redpanda Connect in a zero-downtime fashion
- Design new AI solutions to evolve how end-users work with streaming data
- Participate in an on-call escalation chain, help drive down problems that lead to on-call escalations, and help drive improving on-call quality of life
- Work with all engineering teams for deploying services across all of our supported clouds
- Make resilience and observability integral to the system, enabling us to run a managed, cloud-based streaming-as-a-service with >99.9% uptime
- Build & design Redpanda’s connect-in-the-cloud infrastructure with reliability and performance in mind
You Have:
- Passion for working on deeply technical projects and wanting to work on distributed systems, concurrency & parallelism, and correctness
- Strong understanding and experience of Go
- Knowledge of AI internals, limitations, and how to use AI suggestions programmatically
- Expert knowledge of at least one: AWS, Azure, GCP
- An understanding of stream processing
- Experience and are comfortable working with a 100% distributed engineering team, collaborating on GitHub, in the open and a self-starter
- Comfort working within a small team and 100% distributed engineering org collaborating on GitHub, JIRA, Slack, Confluence and video meetings
