Social Worker Subject Matter Expert- Hybrid - Nationwide Remote Office (US99)

ICF is seeking a Social Worker with at least 5 years of experience as a licensed clinical Social Worker and an interest in secondary research (e.g., literature reviews) to support our Department of Defense (DoD) client in the Washington, D.C. metro area (i.e., the DMV).  This is not a care delivery position.  Rather, the Social Worker SME will apply their prior clinical, mental healthcare, and scientific expertise to inform the development of clinical tools; support the creation of, or updates to, psychological health-related policy; and to provide psychoeducation to providers, patients, and their families in the areas of suicide and other mental health concerns of importance to the military.  The SME will assist with responding to congressional inquiries, requests for briefs on military mental health from senior leadership and providing other information regarding the state of military mental health, as well as ethical issues related to military health care.  The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate previous experience working with suicide prevention efforts or related initiatives.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver presentations on military behavioral healthcare that can be delivered both in person and via webinar
  • Assist with development of clinical support tools, including written materials providing psychoeducation and overviews of best practices for providers, patients and their families
  • Assist with responding to congressional inquiries, requests for briefs on military mental health from senior leadership and providing other information regarding the state of military mental health, as well as ethical issues related to military health care
  • Provide social work perspective to the development of, or updates to, DoD mental health-related policy
  • Respond to communications in regard to the social work role, function, profession, and clinical practice; and other psychological health issues
  • Review and edit existing psychological care projects; develop social work SME content-related projects; analyze qualitative survey data; and manage, prepare, and manipulate databases
  • Monitor and stay on top of current research on topics relevant to military mental health; conduct literature reviews as necessary
  • Provide project management support for initiatives that promote a culture of support for psychological health and evidence-based practices
  • Carefully document ongoing projects and provide regular updates to leadership
  • Maintain active engagement with current developments in the field of mental health and related disciplines
  • Provide evidence-informed written responses, sometimes within a very short turn-around time
  • Coordinate and provide audio-visual support and other administrative duties as needed

Mandatory Qualifications (Education, Certifications, Experience, Skills):

  • Masters degree or higher in a mental health field of practice
  • 5+ years of experience as a licensed clinical social worker with an independent licensure to practice
  • 5+ years of experience in assisting with the development of new psycho-educational tools and written content
  • 5+ years of experience in conducting literature searches for writing papers, reports, and support tools
  • 5+ years of experience and knowledge of best practices related to suicide prevention and addressing mental health-related stigma  
  • 3+ years of experience successfully interfacing with and supporting senior leaders with high-level and highly visible projects and initiatives.
  • Expert in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Active Social Work license (e.g., LCSW-C, LICSW)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance

Desired Qualifications (Education, Certifications, Experience, Skills):

  • Masters degree or higher obtained from a CSWE Accredited School of Social Work
  • Prior Employee Assistance Program (EAP) experience providing counseling or other psychological health services through an EAP
  • Demonstrated experience communicating (verbal and written) with diverse audiences to convey clinical processes, problems, and solutions
  • Experience and knowledge of U.S. military organizations and other government agencies
  • Experience publishing peer-review journal articles and other scholarly and/or government-related documents
  • Ability and experience writing or developing concise reports, spreadsheets, documents and presentations containing evidence-informed information using common computer-based applications
  • Excellent technical writing skills to include secondary research experience (e.g., research methodology, literature reviews, systematic reviews)
  • Demonstrate strong understanding and knowledge of issues pertaining to evidence-informed clinical practice
  • Capacity to participate and contribute within interprofessional teams
  • Capacity to collaborate easily with peers, managers, and clients while leading program development to a completed and successful solution
  • Outstanding organization skills to manage multiple timelines and complete tasks quickly within the constraints of client’s timelines and budgets

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position. The pay range for this position is:

$69,862.00 - $118,765.00
