Site Reliability Engineer Intern (Undergraduate - Summer 2025)

You could be the one who changes everything for our 28 million members as an Intern at Centene. During this 12-week program, you'll learn more about Centene and how we're transforming the health of the community, one person at a time.
 

Position Purpose: Learn about various processes and functions within the Managed Care industry and develop professionally by contributing to projects that support the business.

Duties:

-Research and evaluate applications and services for use by the institution. Provide a matrix when possible, detailing features within each different application or service

-Build innovation in the areas of distributed system flow and resilience, and continuous feedback and delivery 

-Helping to create efficiency and cultural transformation through the curation of new systems and capabilities

-Develop and learn best practices strategies on operating an enterprise cloud infrastructure

-Understanding of planning, priorities, and execution of project management

-Perform analysis of existing policies compared to implemented standards 

Skills:

• Functional knowledge of object oriented programming (Python preferred)
• Experience (formal or informal) with Gitlab and Github
• Experience with design thinking
• Basic RDBMS skills for create, read, update, and delete operations.  Preferred if can be done via code or NoSQL
• Fundamental understanding of API’s.  Should be able to consume REST API’s
• Fundamental understanding of principles of basic software design and development – how does software work
• Basic understanding of unit testing or testing in general and the rationale behind it
• Basic understanding of system architecture and overall API infrastructure and architecture
• Preferred:
  • Machine Learning/LLM
  • AI
  • Cloud computing
  • Any experience with real time monitoring tools (e.g. Dynatrace, Splunk)
  • Experience with Micro services
  • Agile mindset

Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. Must be enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited university or college, preferably in a field related to the hiring department through the internship period.

Pay Range: $20-26/hour
