Service Operations Specialist - San Diego

The Opportunity:

In this role, you will report to the Operations Specialist Supervisor and will work closely with the Avantor’s Lab and Production Services team of over 1,500 on- and off-site expert personnel – and our customers – to perform customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science.

The preferred candidate should be based in the San Diego, CA area and must be prepared to travel between multiple locations, with potential travel outside of California accounting for up to 50% of the job requirements.

Mileage reimbursement for miles driven from your door to the client location. Overnight travel assignment bonus program.

What we’re looking for

  • Education: High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree or undergraduate degree in business or science-related field is preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum 3 -5+ years’ experience in inventory control/procurement/shipping and receiving/Inside Sales, etc.

  • Collaboration Tool: Microsoft Teams experience preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Possesses a valid Driver's License and has access to reliable transportation.

  • Exhibits strong communication and presentation skills.

  • Proficient in Information Access and System ESS, as well as skilled in Microsoft Office and digital literacy.

  • Demonstrates excellent Customer Service Skills, maintaining a professional and can-do demeanor.

  • Has knowledge of procurement and inventory management systems and procedures.

  • Executes duties with utmost attention to safety, quality, and adherence to site protocols, policies, and procedures.

  • Willing and able to travel outside of California, potentially up to 50% of the time.

  • Shows outstanding flexibility, forward-thinking, motivation, and the ability to work independently.

Avantor’s Lab and Production Services team is a crucial part of the Avantor Services group serving over 500 customers in biopharma, pharmaceutical, educational, industrial, and high-tech industries with customizable, flexible solutions and end-to-end laboratory operations support. In this role you will:

  • Orchestrate and guide team efforts to fulfill customer requirements.

  • Collaborate closely with management to execute various projects, which may involve developing Standard Operating Procedures, Scopes of Work, Standard Work processes, On-The-Job Training, and other tasks. This also includes direct interaction with customers concerning job-related functions.
