A Brief Overview

As a key member of RGA Australia's underwriting team, this position will be responsible for delivering exceptional client focus in line with RGA Australia's strategic vision whilst providing exceptional underwriting services and assisting with the delivery of client solutions in compliance with RGA's internal risk management philosophy and guidelines.

What you will do

  • Exceptional customer service focus; Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to negotiate and influence others

  • Analytical with demonstrated attention to detail

  • Expert oral and written communication skills, demonstrating an ability to clearly convey concepts and ideas to all levels of management, associates and clients

  • Detailed knowledge of the life insurance industry, reinsurance market, products, practices and relevant insurance laws and their impact on client operations

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of each client company and its method of operation

  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with underwriters from all client companies in Australia and New Zealand and be a key contributor to industry events

  • Keep abreast of industry trends, legislative changes and product developments pertaining to underwriting

  • Sustain a thorough knowledge of reinsurance and specific RGA treaty practices as they pertain to the management and handling of transfer of risks

  • Positively contribute to a high performing, multi-location team

  • Demonstrate technical expertise through delivery of quality training and presentations for clients as required


Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualification Preferred

  • 5+ Years underwriting experience Required

  • Demonstrated experience working as part of a high performing team Required

  • Industry recognized qualification and/or accreditation in life insurance Required

  • Excellent knowledge of medicine, law, accounting and finance as applied to the evaluation of life insurance risks Required

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to negotiate and influence others Required

  • Enthusiastic, energetic with high levels of drive for personal and business success Required

  • Exceptional customer service focus Required

  • Analytical with demonstrated attention to detail Required

  • Expert oral and written communication skills, demonstrating an ability to clearly convey concepts and ideas to all levels of management, associates and clients Required

  • Detailed knowledge of the life insurance industry, reinsurance market, products, practices and relevant insurance laws and their impact on client operations Required

  • Ability to travel within Australia and New Zealand as required Required

  • Recent experience in URE development/underwriting process improvements/customer transformation project work considered favorable Preferred

Compensation Range:

$87,050.00 - $131,450.00 Annual

Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
