Senior Software Quality Engineer

Job Summary

The RHEL Lightspeed team is looking for a Senior Software Quality Engineer to join our team in Boston, MA. You will have knowledge of Generative AI Models, Artificial Intelligence, and Retrieval Augmented Generation, as well as having expertise in areas such as Gen AI libraries and frameworks for training and inference (PyTorch, Hugging Face Transformers, FSDP, vLLM etc). You will debug software products through the use of systematic tests to develop, apply, and maintain quality standards for company products.

What you will do: 

  • Serve on a globally distributed engineering team and to test AI-powered system administration tools

  • Expand existing tests, as well as design and implement new functional and non-functional tests

  • Review test results, debug failures and report outcomes

  • Mentor junior quality engineers

  • Participate in upstream AI/ML communities to evaluate new AI/ML related technologies and to propose integrations between their technologies and RHEL LightSpeed

  • Present your work at AI/ML-related technology conferences and internally within the AI/ML communities of practice

What you will bring: 

  • A deep understanding of the Linux operating system, especially of RPM-based Linux distributions

  • First hand practical experience with AI frameworks and libraries (e.g. OpenDataHub, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Kueue, KubeRay, KubeFlow, CodeFlare, Feast etc.)

  • Familiarity with model parallelization, quantization, and memory optimization using vLLM, DeepSpeed, OpenVino and other inference libraries

  • Experience  with AI and MLOps tools and Concepts, including Automation, GitOps, pipelines, models, etc. for managing the AI/ML lifecycle in production environments

  • Interest in learning new technologies; problem-solving skills

  • 3+ years of software quality engineering experience including test automation

  • Proficient in version control systems such as Git

  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English

The salary range for this position is $116,550.00 - $186,350.00. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.

Pay Transparency

Red Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat’s compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity. For positions with Remote-US locations, the actual salary range for the position may differ based on location but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
