BASIC FUNCTION:

The Senior Research Analyst will work closely with other members of the Terrain function of American AgCredit, Farm Credit Services of America, andFrontier Farm Credit (the Associations) to provide thought leadership to customers, prospective customers, and association leaders.

Terrain is a team of ag economists and analysts who provide expert insights and confident forecasting to the customers of Terrain’s partner Associations. Terrain analysts are inspired by Farm Credit’s mission to support U.S. agriculture and rural communities today and tomorrow.

This senior analyst will generate original research, visit customers and prospective customers, speak at industry events, participate in industry groups and work to connect the trends and insights across the agricultural value change with the information our customers, prospective customers and Associations find valuable for their decision-making. This individual will utilize data, market trends, and industry knowledge to synthesize insights into what is driving change in the market and associated opportunities and risks, to inform senior leaders and our customers.

By providing deep sector insight, market research, and analysis, the senior research analyst will create a lasting value proposition to our customers and incent prospective customers to move their business to the Associations.

This position requires the ability to manage multiple projects, a deep level of expertise and understanding of the grain and oilseed sectors and risk management tools, as well as the ability to build credibility through data, research, modeling, forecasting and storytelling. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in agricultural research and analysis, is well-connected throughout the grain and oilseed value chain, understands the interconnectedness of that value chain and can lead the production of valuable research for the businesses within it.

This individual will conduct independent and collaborative research relevant to their assigned sector, and prepare research reports, deliver presentations for clients, contribute to business proposals, and to provide specific insights and knowledge to other stakeholders as needed within the association.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Analyzes and researches grains, oilseeds, and their adjacent l markets.

  • Self-starter, and takes ownership of research process from conceptualization to delivery of final product.

  • Helps provide value chain and company analysis as required.

  • Works collaboratively with other analysts and provides support in projects outside of their own.

  • Provides input into internal policies and proposals covering the target sectors.

  • Provides presentations to Management Executive Committee (MEC) and other internal stakeholders as required.

  • Aligns with other analysts on research agenda.

  • Identifies and refers lending opportunities within the target sectors.

  • Prepares strategic, data-driven research publications.

  • Produces reports in addition to the research to be shared with stakeholders.

  • Engages with clients by weighing in on research-based knowledge in the form of presentations, on-site visits, board meetings, etc.

  • Supports business growth by creating innovative and unique ways of thinking backed up by research insights.

  • Delivers engaging presentations at conferences, meetings and events.

  • Travel required.

TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Agricultural Economics or a related field.

  • Master’s degree preferred

  • At least 5 years of related professional experience.

  • Strong knowledge of agriculture, specifically the grain and oilseed sectors.

  • Experience with research, agricultural data sets and databases, financial analysis.

  • Strong collaboration and relationship management skills.

  • Mathematical and reasoning ability including statistical and econometric analysis.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Must have the ability to perform basic office tasks and work in a typical office setting. Employee will be sitting for extended periods of time and accomplishing work at a desk and work at a computer for an extended period. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills to adequately convey ideas and work well with a team. Ability to talk and hear, sit and use their hands and fingers, and reach in all directions is essential in performance of the job. Some lifting and moving of items up to 25 pounds required. Work during established business hours and may require occasional weekend and/or evening work. Travel required.

FULL-TIME REMOTE: These roles and job functions can be done remotely, while maintaining our strong commitment to customer service and our business goals. Employees are welcome to come to an office to work if needed, and some travel for team meetings will be required.

PAY RANGE

Minimum $125,130.94 - Max $225,235.69 Annual

This range is reflective of the national salary average for this position and will be adjusted using geographic variance for physical location of the hired candidate. American AgCredit may compensate outside of the salary range for bona fide reasons not related to membership in a protected class.
