Job Description:

Principle Duties and Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide technical support for PostGre SQL database environments, including testing and installation of DBMS upgrades and backup and recovery of existing databases
  • Assist in documenting database strategies and architectures
  • Monitor the performance of production systems and utilize appropriate tools to identify tuning requirements
  • Participate in 24 x 7 page out/call out support on a rotating basis for production database support issues

Essential Knowledge/Skills: 

  • 5-7+ years PostGre experience V13 and above, versions below are potentially acceptable but there will be a learning curve
    • - requires solid ability to understand DCL (OpenVMS script)
    • – Install, monitor and maintain PostgreSQLsoftware
    • - Ability to research problems down to reviewing of log files for OpenVMS
    • - understands and able to use various OpenVMS utilities, especially one of the editors present
  • 3-5+ years MongoDB experience v5/6
  • Implementing Backup and recovery processes and technologies including system and SQL performance tuning.
  • Database object creation, schema maintenance and system maintenance such as vacuum analysis, etc.
  • Database knowledge (logical and physical design)
  • Database tuning, security and integrity concepts
  • Broad technical knowledge of client/server and web-based environments
  • Understands and is willing to provide on a rotational basis, 24 X 7 database support

Nice to Have Skills:

  • 5+ years PostGre
  • 3+ years MongoDB
  • PostGreSQL certifications
  • Previous experience as an application DBA/developer/support individual.

Education Required: 

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.

Essential Job Functions:
• Assist in managing a team responsible for package software application development.
• Support project execution and resource allocation.
• Collaborate with senior management on departmental objectives.
• Contribute to the timely delivery of software solutions.
• Provide technical assistance to team members.
• Participate in code reviews and maintain coding standards.
• Coordinate communication within the team and with other departments.
• Help identify and resolve project challenges.

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (i.e., Computer Science) or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Typically, 6+ years of relevant work experience in industry, with a minimum of 2+ years in a similar role years of relevant work experience in software engineering
• Proficiency in 1 or more software languages and development methodologies
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team
• Technical knowledge in package applications
• Strong communication and leadership skills

Other Qualifications:
• Advanced degree in a relevant field a plus
• Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., PMP, CTO, or MBA) or advanced training a plus

Compensation at DXC is influenced by an array of factors, including but not limited to the experience, job-related knowledge, skills, competencies, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. A reasonable estimate of the current compensation range for this position is $93,500 - $140,300.
