The PowerBidder Pro application empowers Stem’s customers to leverage Stem’s AI-based forecasts and end-to-end bid automation capabilities to monetize their clean energy assets in wholesale power markets.  The application’s crafted user experience intuitively extends its users’ own power markets expertise with the power of Stem’s cloud-based software stack. 

What we are looking for:

The Senior Product Manager for PowerBidder Pro will be part of Stem’s product management team, and will own and grow the PowerBidder Pro application at Stem. They will work with cross functional stakeholders and SMEs to ensure Stem continues to deliver cutting-edge features to its customers. Furthermore, they will roadmap and execute on the delivery of PowerBidder Pro releases to offer its customers more advanced controls, deeper analytics, and coverage across a broader set of asset classes.  This individual will report to the Vice President of Optimization Products.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to act as primary contributor to the product roadmap for product and feature delivery, internally developed or via partnerships, related to PowerBidder Pro. 
  • Own and prioritize technical product backlog in development of PowerBidder Pro application, supporting products that meet and exceed customer requirements and respond to energy transition needs.
  • Assess and address technical risks and delivery risks to ensure timely delivery of products and features.
  • Participate in agile processes and ceremonies within the software development team, and follow high standards for automation, quality and transparency/observability.
  • Collaborate with UX designers to build and maintain a clean and intuitive user interface that conforms to Stem’s design standards.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team in the high level design of supporting software systems.
  • Collaborate with peers working on forecasting, simulation, and optimization products to ensure alignment and compatibility between the PowerBidder Pro application and major supporting software services.
  • Work with product solution managers and to develop strategies and business models around monetization of PowerBidder Pro and its enhanced feature sets.
  • Work with product marketing to develop collateral that can be used with customers and general public to project Stem’s leadership and differentiation in wholesale optimization.
  • Understand, research, and follow technical trends in the energy industry.
  • Conduct competitive market assessments and capability assessment regularly.
  • Provide internal training and present to customers on PowerBidder Pro’s capabilities
  • Answer incoming questions about the product and its capabilities.
  • Analyze key performance indicators, report on these indicators at a regular cadence to the Vice President of Optimization Products.
  • Facilitate the creation and maintenance of high quality product documentation.
  • Foster a strong technical culture characterized by high-quality implementations, effective organizational communication, decisiveness and speed, constructive conflict resolution, and a can-do mentality.
  • Establish effective and collaborative cross-functional working relationships with peers, developers, and operations teams.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years experience in delivering industry-leading user-facing software products.
  • Electric power industry domain experience with demonstrated understanding of wholesale power markets, with a strong preference for operational experience in asset management or energy trading.
  • Prior work with cross-functional product development teams, including developers, engineers, architects, quality assurance, and operations. Ensure requirements are fully understood and that implementation plans match expectations.
  • Experience working in an Agile engineering organization.
  • Experience defining business models and go-to-market strategies
  • Experience participating in and leading commercial discussions with customers’ leadership teams
  • Power user of JIRA, Confluence
  • Extraordinary communication skills, and able to present on complex technical topics to non-technical audiences.
  • Empathy: You are driven to uncover customer needs and pain points are are able to channel those insights into user-centric product development.
  • Intellectually curious: You’re interested in understanding and experimenting with new cutting-edge technologies.  You want to dive deep into technical matters and can hold your own in discussions with engineers.

  • Experience in full life cycle agile engineering practices ranging from concept, design, development, and QA to continuous release and maintenance.

Salary Range

$142,750.00 - $200,000.00
