Step into an impactful role as a Senior Product Designer on the Developer Experience (DevEx) team at Octopus Deploy!Here, you’ll work on projects that reshape developer workflows, driving efficiency and satisfaction for a primary persona of our user base.
The DevEx team’s mission is to help application developers get changes into production quickly and safely, in a sustainable way. Working alongside the DevEx Leadership Team, you’ll be key in designing solutions that build confidence for developers that changes will be successful when they reach production.
As the Senior Product Designer, your role will involve solving complex problems, advocating for developer-centric solutions, and crafting scalable designs tailored to enterprise environments. This is a high-impact role where you’ll influence the future of our product while collaborating with a passionate, multidisciplinary team.
As a member of the Design Team, you’ll stay connected and supported through team rituals that encourage collaboration and knowledge sharing.
This is a remote role based in Australia or New Zealand.
The compensation for this role is:Level 3 (Senior): Maturing: $135k AUD / $145k NZD, Performing: $145k AUD / $155k NZD

As a member of the Design Team, you’ll stay connected and supported through team rituals that encourage collaboration and knowledge sharing.
This is a remote role based in Australia or New Zealand.
You will be a great fit for this role if you have:
- 5+ years of experience in a Product Design role, preferably in developer or technical infrastructure products.
- Proven ability to use generative and evaluative research methods to generate valuable insights and translate them into actionable design solutions.
- Experience working alongside Product Managers and Engineers in an agile environment as a member of a product leadership trio.
- An understanding of daily developer workflows and experience with tools like IDEs, source control, builds, and deployment systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to articulate and advocate for design decisions.
- A portfolio showcasing success in designing for developer tooling or platforms, demonstrating your ability to solve complex problems and deliver impactful solutions.
- A software engineering background would be a nice-to-have, but not essential. Basic experience contributing to software or websites via code and committing to source control.
- Strong understanding of software development concepts and shared component design.
You will enjoy this role if:

- You thrive in a collaborative environment, solving problems alongside Software Engineers and Product Managers. You work openly to bounce ideas off Product Designers in other teams.
- You are proactive in anticipating challenges and organizing research and design work with minimal direction.
- You have a keen interest in creating consistent, scalable solutions for enterprise products while contributing to design systems.
- You can continuously guide your learning journey through a complex product and its domain.
A typical day might include:
- Conducting user research with the team’s Product Manager such as interviews or usability testing to gather insights into developer workflows.
- Collaborating with your Leadership Team to make UX scoping decisions.
- Pairing with a Software Engineer or another designer to solve a UX or UI challenge.
- Facilitating a team workshop to uncover assumptions or conduct ideation.
- Writing and iterating on documentation, such as design specifications or user personas.
- Working with our design system team to make contributions to shared components.
- Mentoring other designers and sharing your expertise with the team.
