The Sr. Field Medical Strategy Implementation Director (FMSID) works with the US Immunology Medical Heads, Field Implementation Directors and Field Medical Operations Director to establish and implement Field Medical Strategic plans and Field Medical Training plans, ensuring alignment within the US Medical Immunology team, medical excellence initiatives, systems, and processes in partnership with relevant internal stakeholders.   

This position will be responsible for managing the US Medical Immunology Project Managers and Operations Leads, ensuring consistency in the approach of systems, and processes that relate to the broader team.

Main Responsibilities: 

  • Coordinate traversal partnership with internal stakeholders to develop the most effective and efficient strategic plan to interface with external Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs).  

  • Establish the team’s long-range Medical strategic plan (including resource deployment) to determine course of action/tactics in a timely manner to meet life cycle management strategies meeting business objectives.  

  • Guide capability initiatives, including proactive competency gap analysis, contributing to content and curriculum design, conducting training classes where necessary, and monitoring data systems, both for above TA and TA specific content in close collaboration with the Therapeutic Area teams and Field Implementation Directors  

  • Support the generation and communication of scientific and medical insights to internal stakeholders, develop/execute strategic and tactical Medical Engagement Plans, and manage MSL resources and budgets. 

  • Represent of US Medical Immunology on the strategic design, implementation and oversight/management of common systems and process (e.g., CRM, CLM/content management, dashboards, insight tools, SharePoint

  • ), driving alignment, consistency and best practices in ways of working across the U.S. medical immunology field based teams, and facilitating alignment on processes and systems that further enable medical’s contribution to Sanofi’s go-to-market and omni-channel strategy.   

  • A key area of focus is to build consistency and efficiency in approach across the field medical functions, working closely with the NA Medical Excellence & Scientific Engagement Lead and Global MO&E, field medical leadership, operations leads and cross-BU medical counterparts.  This position will also serve as the unified US Medical Immunology voice into relevant NA, global and cross-BU field medical task force initiatives and will identify and support process improvement/innovation and general project management oversight to ensure successful completion of projects/initiatives according to agreed-upon timelines and budgets.   

  • Lead the TA alignment and implementation of field medical strategic and tactical plans to drive consistency and efficiency of processes across the field medical organization, to develop the most effective and efficient strategic plan to interface with external Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and ensure that team processes align with systems and identify/recommend/support process improvement opportunities. 

  • Develop and coordinate/oversee field medical above-TA training strategy, coordinating with TA Heads and Field Implementation Directors. on creation/maintenance of onboarding programs, learning curriculums, program design, content development, and implementation.  

  • Support the implementation of aligned field medical KPIs across TA teams and efficient methods for capturing and reporting use of CRM and other systems that will support a unified reporting structure to NA Medical leadership; drive innovation with new ways of measuring medical impact to further demonstrate value of medical teams. 

  • Provide input on the strategy and drive implementation and utilization of team systems and processes, working with relevant internal stakeholders (e.g., CRM, CLM, insight analytic tools, SharePoint, customer databases); define standards for consistency with utilization. 

  • Ensure aligned field content management in CLM to ensure compliance requirements and that approved resources and materials are uploaded and stored in the appropriate platform. 

  • Lead coordination of formal communications across US Medical Immunology using shared platforms to enhance cross functional alignment and collaboration. 

  • Oversee requests for IT-related tools (e.g., systems, dashboards, customer databases) and coordinate across TA teams and global to develop consistency and minimize duplication of resources. 

  • Oversee process for reporting of field medical activities/initiatives into NA Medical dashboard, coordinating with field team leads and operations to provide field medical dashboard updates. 

  • Contribute to digital transformation and supporting tools and processes that enable medical’s omni-channel strategy, serving as a resource both within and across therapeutic area/functional teams, and working closely with key internal stakeholders in NA Medical, Global MO&E, IT and business operations. 

  • Manage internal matrix cross-functional teams and projects. 

  • Ensure audit preparedness relating to field medical (e.g., medical information requests, training documentation, scientific education programs and use of external speakers, field medical policy, use of approved resources). 

  • Support interface with field medical operations, shared services, and IT. 

  • Liaise with Global and NA Field Medical Excellence to ensure pull-through of global field medical initiatives. 

About You

  • Masters degree in healthcare field with at least 10 years of industry experience in field medical/field medical leadership; doctorate and/or MBA preferred  

  • Experience having managed a field medical team  

  • Experience in project management, information technology, analytics, training/development, and process improvement methodology are highly desirable. 

  • Strong planning and tracking skills, well-organized, focused on results, capable of managing multiple projects with respect to priorities and self-management. 

  • Candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of Medical Affairs organizations and specifically the field medical function including related operating processes, systems, policies, procedures and regulations. 

  • A strong working knowledge of business processes and systems, including strategic planning and budgeting, is highly desirable 

  • Awareness/understanding of field systems and processes - desirable (e.g., CRM, content management solutions). 

  • Candidate must possess exceptional communication skills, both oral and written, excellent organizational time management skills, and the ability to lead, collaborate and align with diverse, cross-functional matrix teams. 

  • Understanding of pharmaceutical or biotechnical regulated environments and functions. 

  • Analytical and detail oriented, well developed organizational skills, pragmatic in solving problems. 

  • Travel will be required for team meetings and other company functions.  If field based, the position will require the candidate to assess and determine an appropriate level of home office engagement for effective collaboration with internal stakeholders. 

  • Ability to lead project management initiatives and process improvement. 

  • Ability to champion strategic change initiatives, promote innovation, and implement new approaches. 

  • Ability to conduct effective meetings. 

  • Technology savvy; familiar with information systems, CRM platforms, and IT resources 

  • Fluent in Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft project

The salary range for this position is:

$202,500.00 - $292,500.00
