Job Description Summary:
The Senior Director, Trade and Distribution, is responsible for overseeing the strategic planning and execution of PTC’s product distribution and trade platform for small molecule and gene therapy. This role will ensure distribution model configuration and operational effectiveness is consistent with PTC’s overall strategic and tactical plans for a fully integrated patient centered, flexible and scalable distribution solution aligned and supportive of PTC’s patient services.Will oversee key operational elements for 3PL and specialty pharmacy limited distribution network. This includes ensuring appropriate access to product supply, management and identification of distribution vendors; maximizing value for PTC stakeholders by developing best-in-class programs and services in line with supporting PTC Cares; identification of critical risk areas and developing mitigation strategies; developing and designing the distribution strategy for active, pipeline and potential in-license products.
They will have deep experience in designing and operationalizing distribution solutions for specialty biologics within the orphan market segment. Position requires direct interaction with key internal / external stakeholders. For example, PTC Cares, supply chain, Specialty Pharmacy, Sales, Marketing, Market Access, Business Intelligence, Medical Affairs, Pharmacovigilance, IT, Legal and Finance.

Job Description:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Primary duties/responsibilities:
Lead the ‘go-to-market’ and ‘in-market’ channel strategy to ensure access to PTC’s promoted products. Including the screening and selection of the appropriate Specialty Distributor, and/or Specialty Pharmacy to ensure appropriate access for patients.
Proactively identify potential marketplace trends/barriers and create plans that will optimize access and create reimbursement confidence with providers and patients.
Collaborate and develop strong working relationships with PTC cross-functional and commercial team members, including but not limited to: Marketing, Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Patient Advocacy, Patient Services, Legal and Field Sales to ensure broad access to PTC product(s); actively engages internal team members and external service providers to support broad patient access on a case-by-case basis.
Partner with the patient services team to ensure quality, efficiencies and performance in delivering operational excellence and meeting PTC standards to ensure patient initiation and support of ongoing treatment.
Serve as the internal expert and primary point of contact on all distribution and trade related issues within the assigned region(s); ensures relevant and timely access to PTC products; provides input and feedback regarding contracting strategies and ensures that all contracting governance requirements are met.
Represent PTC Therapeutics at trade functions, conventions and educational programs.
Work with sales at district, regional and national sales meetings on education initiatives about trade, retail pharmacy, specialty pharmacy and distribution.
Support the Managed Care Team on the development and implementation of business strategy, tactical planning and execution.
Ensure that all activities within the role of Sr Director, Trade & Distribution remain in compliance with all corporate, regulatory and legal guidelines.
Perform other tasks and assignments as needed and specified by management.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES REQUIRED
* Minimum level of education and years of relevant work experience.
Bachelor’s degree in a related business or scientific discipline and a minimum of 12 years progressively responsible commercial, including Trade and Distribution experience in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology or related environment including prior oversight of an orphan drug distribution platform including trade/specialty pharmacy management.
* Special knowledge or skills needed and/or licenses or certificates required.
Working knowledge of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Systemic understanding of financing and delivery of healthcare in U.S. In-depth knowledge of orphan disease space and coverage requirements and the pharmaceutical reimbursement process and insurance coverage.
Extensive account management experience. Strong relationships and familiarity with distribution vendors and suppliers of services related to enhancing product distribution to patients.
Strong background and proven track record in working with specialty pharmacy to ensure execution and deliverables to support patient access.
Proven success in product launches.
Ability to anticipate issues and respond quickly, flexibly and creatively to solve problems and address commercial market challenges.
In-depth, hands-on experience working in a small but fast growing, entrepreneurial environment.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively, as required, in a fast-paced, matrixed, team environment consisting of internal and external team members.
Ability to influence without direct authority.
Excellent verbal and written communication and skills.
Analytical thinker with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
Excellent planning, organization and time management skills including the ability to support and prioritize multiple projects.

Advanced degree (PhD, Master’s, MBA).
Experience supporting the commercialization of an orphan, rare disease.

Expected Base Salary Range: $240,600– $302,800
The base salary offered will be contingent on assessment of candidate education level, background, and experience relative to the requirements of the position they are being considered for, as well as review of internal equity.
In addition to base salary, PTC employees are also eligible for short- and long-term incentives. All eligible employees may also enroll in PTC’s medical, dental, vision, and retirement savings plans.
