Summary

The Director, Business Operations & Commercial Excellence supports the ATS President. As one of the President’s trusted advisors, will serve as the President’s Chief of Staff and partner with the senior ATS leadership team to drive execution of key focus areas and strategic initiatives for the business, with specific focus on commercial excellence.  The individual will be responsible for directly supporting the President in business operations, planning, oversight, metrics, and other work to optimize the deployment & execution of the ATS strategy.

Detailed Description

Chief of Staff

  • Working collaboratively with Finance, drive and own the ATS MOS (management operating system)
  • Collaborate with ATS business leadership to drive execution of segment strategy and key initiatives and ensure alignment and collaboration across broader functional teams within Celestica
  • Support ATS President and business line leaders in monitoring progress and performance metrics of the critical segment metrics, annual OKRs, and strategic imperatives to drive accountability
  • Review, evaluate, recommend and implement operating systems and cadences, processes, policies, and practices to ensure performance of scalable, effective business operations and improve efficiencies across teams
  • Support the segment President in preparation for corporate meetings, board meetings and meetings with key external stakeholders, including customers, strategic partners, and investment community

Commercial Excellence

  • Partner with ATS President, 6 Segment VPs, VP Sales and VP Engineering to identify and implement actions to drive profitable growth, including but not limited to:
  • Work with each of the 6 ATS segments to define the optimal mix of customers and conduct periodic portfolio reviews, including customer “fix or fire” initiatives and attractive growth subsegment opportunities
  • Define a playbook of account cross-selling & upselling best practices; review accounts across ATS and identify opportunities
  • Define a playbook of pricing opportunities & best practices, e.g., EC / change order repricing; review accounts to identify and implement opportunities
  • Define criteria to pursue high impact VAVE, BOM control and TPS improvements
  • Partner with the Sales Operations Team to define / implement comprehensive account reviews which incorporate all of the above items
  • Identify any additional opportunities to drive profitable growth across ATS
  • Lead and drive key strategic and transformation initiatives Identifying projects, creating project charters, gaining executive sponsorship and leading projects to successful completion on time and budget

Commercial partnerships – Quick Turn EMS shops

  • Develop 1-3 partnerships with US-based quick-turn EMS shops (concept: QT shops to work with our customers on early stage designs & prototypes, then transition to a CLS high volume site in a low cost geography when ready)
  • Determine legal framework required and on-going partner management process
  • Develop internal & customer marketing and communication material (value proposition, how it works, etc)

Physical Demands

Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.


Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data. Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.

Typical Experience

  • 8+ years in a business or executive management roles
  • Consulting Background preferred, e.g., 3-4 years of experience gained at a leading consulting firm such as Bain, McKinsey, BCG, or similar. Your consulting experience equips you with valuable problem-solving skills and a strategic mindset
  • In-depth experience related to running revenue organizations - e.g. consulting, Corporate Strategy, Marketing, Sales, Sales Operations, etc.
  • Excellent communicator in written and verbal form
  • Proven experience organizing and directing teams and departments
  • Proven track record in validating financials and having a data-driven approach to complex revenue-related challenges
     

Typical Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field

Location: This is a remote position, with travel as necessary. We are open to considering candidates close to any of our US locations in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Texas, Arizona, Oregon or California as well as locations near major airports such as the Northeast, Southeast, Midwest and Pacific Coast.
