Senior Data Scientist – Model Risk Management

 The Enterprise Risk & Compliance team plays a critical role in proactively identifying, assessing, and managing risk across teams at Humana. The Model Risk Management team within Enterprise Risk & Compliance partners with modeling teams throughout Humana to actively manage model risk through the development and implementation of relevant standards, guidelines, tools, and initiatives.

As a Senior Data Scientist, you will work with a variety of modeling teams across Humana (particularly Data Science teams) to lead or support a variety of Model Risk Management initiatives. These initiatives will include conducting model peer reviews, developing/improving processes to monitor conformance of modeling processes with internal guidelines and standards, working with business partners to compile and report relevant model metrics, as well as the continued improvement of model risk standards and related guidance.

You will also play a key role in developing and communicating recommendations on model risk initiatives to business partners, as well as working with those partners to execute on those initiatives.  In addition, you will create reports, presentations, and other relevant analysis to provide relevant insights to key business leaders and partners.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or related fields.

• 3 or more years of experience in statistical analytics and/or predictive modeling.

• Demonstrated experience with SAS, Python, R, and/or SQL.

• Experience in using mathematics, statistics, modeling, business analysis, and technology to transform high volumes of complex data into advanced analytic solutions.

• Able to develop, maintain, and collect structured and unstructured data sets for analysis and reporting.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams to promote best practices with respect to model risk.

• Create reports, projections, models, and presentations to support business strategy and tactics.

• Experience in working with assignments that involve complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factor.

• Ability to make decisions on complex issues regarding technical approach for project components.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree or PhD in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science or related fields.

• Healthcare or managed care experience.

• Experience performing data management, mining, and manipulation along with analytics.

• Associates who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.

• Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job.

• Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.

 

$117,600 - $161,700 per year

 

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
