At Credit Acceptance, cloud computing continues to allow us to modernize and consolidate IT infrastructure, automate workloads, and pursue next-generation innovation. To continue this transformation, we’re seeking an experienced cloud engineer with expertise in the strategy, design, development, and implementation of large-scale projects in the cloud. The ideal candidate is experienced in cloud-based tech, with a firm grasp of emerging technologies, platforms, and applications, and ability to customize them to help our business become more secure and efficient. Extensive knowledge of cloud maintenance and advanced industry knowledge is key to keeping us on the cutting edge. From day one, you’ll have an immediate impact on the day-to-day efficiency of our IT infrastructure and an ongoing impact on our overall growth. The Cloud Engineer is responsible for architecture, administration, maintenance and availability of all cloud infrastructure and supporting tools. Additionally, Cloud Engineer demonstrates and encourages a culture of automation, orchestration and efficiency. The position helps drive a cloud strategy that is consistent with the department and business goals.

Outcomes and Activities:

  • This position will work from home; occasional planned travel to an assigned Southfield, Michigan office location may be required.  However, this position is permitted to work at a Southfield, Michigan office location if requested by the team member.

  • You will be measured on your ability to perform the following activities effectively.

  • Work in tandem with our Infrastructure & IT teams to identify and implement the most optimal cloud-based solutions for the company

  • Define and document best practices and strategies regarding cloud deployments and maintenance

  • Provide guidance, thought leadership, and mentorship to development teams to build cloud competencies

  • Ensure application performance, uptime, and scale, maintaining high standards of quality and thoughtful design

  • Managing cloud environments in accordance with company security guidelines

  • Reliably supporting the technology our internal customers depend on to do their jobs.

  • Supporting the collection, filtering, prioritization, and planning of the 'right work.'

  • Schedule's installations and upgrades and maintains systems in accordance with established policies, procedures, and Service Level Agreements.

  • Works with Backup Administrator to develop a data protection strategy that conforms with the established requirements.

  • Conducts routine environment audits of cloud accounts for compliance with established standards, policies, configuration guidelines and procedures.

  • Maintains a comprehensive cloud library of all supporting documentation.

  • Responsible for assisting in the development of cloud strategies.

  • Participates in an on-call rotation.

  • Automate system deployments using standard automation tools such as Puppet, Git, Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.

  • Participates, and enhances the Disaster Recovery process.

  • Cloud Management Platform Administration

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience supporting Cloud/Hybrid environments with a strong background with AWS

  • Experience with SaaS, Paas, and IaaS deployments in the Cloud

  • Ability to learn and leverage other cloud technologies such as Azure, Oracle, Google etc.

  • Documented history of providing continuous improvements / enhancements using cutting edge technology

  • Write and augment scripts in various automation, orchestration, scripting, or programming languages

  • Experience developing and maintaining performance metrics and graphs

  • Proven ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams of business analysts, developers, data scientists, and subject matter experts

  • Ability to right-size cloud infrastructure with cost, and performance in mind

  • Ability to participate in an on-call rotation


Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in a hybrid Cloud/Data Center environment supporting various multi-tier and microservice applications

  • Experience with other clouds like Azure, Oracle, Google, etc

  • Experience with backup and data protection technologies

  • Experience with patching tools

  • Experience with virtualization environments

  • Experience using configuration management tools such as Puppet, Chef, Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.

  • Experience working with monitoring/trending software such as CloudWatch, ELK, Splunk, etc

  • Working knowledge of DevOps processes

Target Compensation: A competitive base salary range from $109,068 - $159,966.  This position is eligible for an annual variable cash bonus, between 7.5 - 15%. Final compensation within the range is influenced by many factors including role-specific skills, depth and experience level, industry background, relevant education and certifications. 

 

Candidates who reside in the following major metropolitan areas may be eligible for a premium on top of the posted range based on their specific zone: San Francisco, Seattle, Boston, New York City, Los Angeles and San Diego.
