Job Description

The Life Sciences and Diagnostics Markets Group (LDG) at Agilent is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, self-motivated, and people-oriented individual to join our successful and dynamic team as an Account Manager for the Molecular and Biological Research division.

As an Account Manager, you will be responsible for driving sales of high-performance Genomics and Pathology end-to-end workflows, comprised of consumables, capital equipment, services, and software with a focus on Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), Synthetic Biology and Immunohistochemistry. As an integral member of the team, you will use your excellent technical acumen and business development skills to focus on acquiring new customers while assisting in retaining and growing the existing base. You will be expected to develop and implement successful strategies and tactics to sell complex Genomics and Pathology workflow solutions. In collaboration with your local channel partners, you will build new relationships in key accounts as well as expanding understanding of the need within untapped market spaces.

Responsibilities:

  • Driving sales of the entire portfolio of products with a focus on specific Genomics and Pathology solutions (Target Enrichment, Synthetic Biology, Automation and Immunohistochemistry)

  • Effectively prospect to find and close new opportunities in existing and new accounts.

  • Provide a monthly forecast narrative while directing a funnel of opportunities in CRM.

  • Develop and execute a strategic territory business plan that will enable Agilent to gain market share and achieve sales goals in-line with the District’s Managed Business Objectives.

  • Conduct product presentations and product overviews with and without Field Applications Scientist (FAS) assistance.

  • Provide constructive feedback from customers into Agilent to help guide continual development of products that more effectively address customers' needs (collect voice of customer).

  • Understand Genomics and Pathology applications in Basic/Academic Research, Government/Non-Profit, and Biotech/Pharmaceutical market segments and recognize trends that impact buying of Agilent products.

  • Develop and maintain strategic customer relationships.

  • Participate and be an active member in regional discussion groups and forums.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in any Life Science or Biological Science field

  • 4+ years direct sales experience with a demonstrated track record of successfully selling Genomics and/or pathology reagent portfolios and capital equipment into Basic/Academic Research, Government/Non-Profit, and Biotech/Pharmaceutical market segments

  • Ability to interface at all levels within an organization for both internal/external customers

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Highly motivated, with excellent self-management, organizational and prioritization skills

  • Strong business development and sales closing skills

  • Ability to collaborate and work within a team selling environment to achieve territory sales goals

  • Must be able to travel on an occasional basis, approximately 10-20% of the time

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on, laboratory experience with NGS and/or Immunohistochemistry

  • Previous experience working with customer purchasing teams to lead effective contract negotiations

  • Industry/Application expertise. Working knowledge of competitive products (specifications, applications, value propositions)

Geo Location: Must be based in the San Francisco Bay Area

Additional Details

This job has a full time weekly schedule. It includes the option to work remotely. Applications for this job will be accepted until at least January 30, 2025 or until the job is no longer posted. It is sales incentive eligible. In the US, this position is eligible for choice of company car or reimbursement for personal vehicle usage.

The full-time equivalent pay range for this position is $177,210.00 - $295,350.00/yr plus eligibility for bonus, stock and benefits. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
