Revenue Accountant

About the RoleHouzz is seeking a Revenue Accountant to join our dynamic and fast-paced revenue accounting team. This role is ideal for a self-starter with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills who thrives on tackling complex challenges. As a Revenue Accountant, you will play a hands-on role in supporting the company’s month-end close process and day-to-day revenue accounting operations. You’ll leverage your technical expertise to enhance our revenue accounting processes and contribute to the design and implementation of automated solutions to support our growing and complex business model.

What You’ll Do

• Prepare and record accounts receivable and revenue entries for subscription and brand advertising revenue streams
• Maintain and update deferred revenue amortization schedules
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and prepare related supporting schedules
• Assist in preparing revenue schedules for quarterly reporting packages and annual financial statements
• Participate in the design and implementation of automated solutions to further scale and streamline our revenue recognition process
• Analyze system data flows and inputs, pulling and aggregating data to connect various reports effectively
• Support the AR payment application process, including posting and reconciling collections
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and collaborate with stakeholders to enhance efficiency

At a Minimum, We’d Like You to Have

• At least 2 years of relevant experience 
• An undergraduate degree in accounting
• Strong working knowledge of US GAAP and SEC rules and regulations
• The ability to perform professional level accounting research, analysis, and reconciliation
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, an eagerness to learn and a willingness to take on new challenges
• Research and analytical skills, thorough attention to detail and the ability to handle large amounts of data
• The ability to prioritize effectively, meet deadlines, work with others and follow through to accomplish all tasks
• A high proficiency in MS Excel

Ideally, You'll Also Have

• A CPA 
• Understanding of SaaS and / or Payments revenue models 
• Experience working in Netsuite or other similar ERP
• Ability to effectively analyze and summarize large data sets using MS Excel, Tableau, or other similar software 

Compensation, Benefits and Perks:This role has an annual starting salary range of $75,000 - $115,000. In addition to salary, you’re eligible for competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Houzz. Also, depending on the role, you could be eligible for an equity award. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors, including, but not limited to, skills, experience, and specific work location.
