Job Description

As the Retail Sales Representative, you will play a key role within our sales department to provide exceptional service and support to our retail customers (Lowes & Home Depot). At the heart of this position, you will be maintaining established relationships and fostering new ones within your territory of approximately 65 retail stores within the Greenville, SC territory while also stretching to Columbia, SC, and Ashville, NC, representing our Therma-Tru Doors, Fypon, and Larson portfolio of products.

This is a professional, entry-level position that offers you opportunity for advancement. 

The ideal candidate must have strong communication skills, a focus on organization, enhanced multitasking abilities, negotiation skills, and the ability to work well with tools. You must also be comfortable working independently, the ability to travel overnight approximately 4-6 nights a month, and lift up to 100lbs, repetitive lifting of up to 65lbs, and comfortable working on ladders.

Location: This remote position is based in Greenville, SC

What you will be doing:

The bullet points below reflect roughly 80% of your job. We are a fast-paced company, you may be pulled in a variety of different directions with tasks added or changed.

  • Grow top-line sales within assigned territory across several product lines.
  • Develop a strategic approach to calling on accounts, with a focus on identifying impactful growth opportunities.
  • Develop and execute effective sales training programs with a focus on brand differentiators and premium sales growth.   
  • Take ownership of the territory assigned by building relationships with the key store sales associates and Management. 
  • Ensure all new and remerchandised stores are set on schedule with appropriate displays, signage, and pricing.
  • Drive Pro Business by developing relationships with Retail Pro Associates, partnering with distributor sales teams to call on focus stores and implement focused sales programs, building brand awareness, and participating in retail “Pro-Events.”
  • Drive R&R revenue by developing and supporting Retail In-Home Sales Consultants
  • Manage a travel and expense budget as appropriate while effectively meeting territory sales goals.
  • Build and nurture positive relationships with distributor partners to facilitate achievement of team goals.
  • Work cross-functionally to develop and implement sales messaging, new product recommendations, and POP changes.
  • Work with Customer Service to facilitate completion of claim inspections and recommend corrective action/resolution.
  • Recommend changes to ensure proper in-aisle stock assortment to maximize sales.
  • Ensure merchandising standards are being met on each visit.
  • Other duties as assigned by leader.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of sales experience
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to prioritize competing tasks, create action plans, and follow through to completion
  • Millwork, decking, or building materials industry background is a plus

Nice to Have:

  • College degree in Sales or Marketing
  • Understanding sales process and cycle
  • Client and customer relationships
  • Experience working with a CRM platform (i.e. Hubspot)
  • Understanding the quality process

Additional Information

Fortune Brands believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is Hiring Pay Range: $55,000 USD - $65,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based sales incentive plan.
