Purpose:
As Resilience Programme Lead you will help to develop Climate Bonds strategy to pioneer in this rapidly growing area of sustainable finance.
You will drive and coordinate the implementation, delivery and development of the programme and projects and support and provide insight to those that may be under the ownership of others.
You will bring your domain knowledge to Climate Bonds and seek to upskill your colleagues to enable the resilience agenda to be integrated across the organisation at pace.
The role will help to build out a strategy to quickly involve coordinating Climate Bonds internal strategy, ensuring that Climate Bonds team members are informed and invested in the success of the resilience programme and integrate the workstreams and objectives into their own team workplans.
The Resilience Programme Lead will also act as an ambassador and domain expert for Climate Bonds externally as required, supporting the Engagement and Fundraising teams to build a broad and supportive network.
Duties and responsibilities:
Cross-functional Programme Leadership and Coordination
- Full lifecycle of project and programme management spanning initiation and planning, delivery, performance monitoring, resourcing, RAID and funder reporting and, budget.
- Anticipating and driving mitigation of risks and issues in a timely manner in partnership with stakeholders.
- Partnering with Programme Design to share feedback gained from implementation, delivery and the market to iterate as required, the programme.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, working with the Project Management Office to conduct annual methodology review and impact assessments aligned with CBI's theory of change.
Programme Strategy
- Contribute to the continual development of the organisation's resilience strategy to position Adaptation and Resilience as a natural evolution of CBI's mission, to accelerate sustainable investment, provide clear, implementable standards and drive meaningful climate action through financial innovation.
- Support the embedding of resilience-focused strategies and activities into all CBI, such that it becomes business-as-usual and integrated into their team strategies
- Partnering with the Head of Programme Design to share feedback gained from implementation, delivery and the market to iterate and develop the programme as required.
Stakeholder Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders, including internal team members, senior management and external delivery recipients.
- Articulate the programme strategy to external third parties where required and represent Climate Bonds as a Resilience Programme expert.
- Address and resolve stakeholder concerns and conflicts promptly and effectively.
- Ensuring transparency and managing stakeholder expectations by providing clear and consistent updates on project and programme status.
- Keep abreast of market and industry developments in domain field, to optimise pace and success of Climate Bonds contribution. Represent Climate Bonds in global and regional working groups, coalitions, and initiatives focused on advancing financing solutions for resilience and adaptation.
Requirements
Essential:
- Undergraduate degree in relevant field
- Practitioner experience of adaptation and resilience that includes; climate A&R finance, existing A&R frameworks such as the MDB methodology and the EU Taxonomy.
- Experience at a senior level of managing competing resource and capacity demands to achieve goals and creating a culture of working collaboratively.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and management experience at a senior level.
- Previous experience successfully managing multiple, high value and complex projects, programmes and budgets.
- Knowledge of climate change adaptation approaches and resilience building across a variety of sectors
- Ability to work as part of a team and to take a collaborative approach.
- Strong critical thinking, strategic and problem-solving skills, able to drive change and articulate the implications of complex issues and how these will affect the programme
- Ability to bring a positive outlook to working at Climate Bonds and energising teams around the mission.
- Effective presentation style as well as strong speaking and written communication skills.
- Experience of developing and managing a network of professional relationships.
Desirable:
- Experience in NGO sector
- Experience working in sustainable finance, ideally in fixed income, able to communicate with stakeholders from both the issuer and investor spheres
