REMOTE IaaS System Administrator - United States
Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking an IaaS System Administrator to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position is located in Kearneysville, WV (hybrid work schedule; must be local to office). The qualified applicant will become part of Peraton’s Infrastructure Managed Service (IMS) Program, for the Unites States Coast Guard (USCG). This initiative is modernizing and consolidating the engineering and operational environment under a managed service to better support the services provided to the USCG. As part of the IMS program, the System Administrator will be responsible for providing guidance across the Technical Services team, including requirements definition, design, implementation, and testing.
Day to Day Work Responsibilities may include:
- Provision, configure, and maintain virtualized infrastructure components such as virtual machines, networks, and storage within an IaaS environment.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize resource utilization to ensure high availability and reliability.
- Implement and maintain security measures to protect infrastructure components and data, including access controls, firewalls, and encryption.
- Collaborate with other teams to design and implement scalable and resilient infrastructure solutions.
- Automate routine tasks and processes using scripting languages and configuration management tools.
- Plan and execute infrastructure upgrades, patches, and migrations with minimal downtime.
- Perform regular backups and implement disaster recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and business continuity.
- Provide technical support and assistance to end-users, including troubleshooting and resolving system-related issues.
- Document system configurations, procedures, and best practices for knowledge sharing and future reference.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to cloud computing and infrastructure management.
