The Release Manager will facilitate the alignment, execution, and continuous improvement of release processes for multiple Agile teams. The Release Manager works closely with Team Coaches (Scrum Masters), Agile Delivery Leads, Product, and Engineering to ensure seamless deployments, minimize risks, and improve release cadence. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Agile methodologies, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for continuous improvement.

Principle Duties

  • Act as the primary facilitator for multiple Agile teams, leading and coordinating the efforts of multiple cross-functional teams.

  • Organize and facilitate the Strategic Alignment Increment (SAI) planning sessions, ensuring alignment across teams and stakeholders.

  • Support teams in identifying and removing impediments to progress, fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability.

  • Monitor progress towards SAI objectives, providing visibility and transparency to stakeholders and lead scrum of scrums.

  • Collaborate with Team Coaches (Scrum Masters), Agile Delivery Leads, Product, Engineering, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on priorities and objectives.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by leveraging metrics and feedback from teams.

  • Foster a culture of Agile best practices, mentoring teams and individuals in Agile principles and practices.

  • Coordinate and support the execution of release plans, ensuring quality and timely delivery of software products.

  • Oversees release readiness, ensuring proper testing, approvals, and deployment sign-offs.

  • Ensures releases follow CI/CD best practices, automating deployments where possible.

  • Works closely with Engineering teams to refine release pipelines and deployment automation.

  • Optimizes release workflows to improve speed, reliability, and risk management.

  • Ensures proper version control, rollback procedures, and release documentation.

  • Ensures release processes are aligned with Agile delivery cadences (sprints, Strategic Alignment Increment planning).

  • Champions release automation to reduce manual intervention and deployment risks.

  • Identifies release-related risks and dependencies working to mitigate them early.

  • Communicates release plans, status updates, and post-release retrospectives to stakeholders.

  • Supports post-release monitoring and incident resolution in collaboration with engineering teams.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in computer science/Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience. required

Work Experience

  • 7+ years’ experience driving and participating in software development / release process improvement initiatives, with exposure to the full software development lifecycle -- from requirements through post-release. required

  • 5+ years’ experience with Agile, Scrum, SAFe, or other Agile frameworks. required

  • Experience mentoring and training more junior professionals on both technical and release process topics. required

  • Experience in the Insurance and /or Reinsurance industry. preferred

  • Hands-on experience with release planning, risk mitigation, and deployment automation. required

Certifications

  • Certified Scrum Master, Certified Product Owner, or other Agile Certification. preferred

Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams toward task completion. Ability to work effectively and build relationships with all levels of personnel, customers, suppliers, consultants - both internally and externally.

  • Capable of delivering, managing, and tracking project testing/release schedules, whether as the sole resource on a project team, or part of virtual team.

  • Strong team player with a "can-do" attitude. Possesses solid organizational and time management skills.

  • Excellent troubleshooting ability. Participates in process improvement.

  • Adaptability and flexibility to work with the tools and solutions selected by the team.

  • Proven work ethic with strong time management skills.

  • Demonstrates ability to work with and lead diverse teams and meetings.

  • Demonstrates strong product knowledge.

  • Mentors newer staff.

  • Juggles multiple projects. Ability to create and communicate an accurate schedule. Ability and drive to deliver on time, while working in a semiautonomous environment.

  • Insatiable curiosity to understand and improve the state of art. required

  • Exceptional communication skills, with an ability to present and discuss technical information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others, and provides understanding of project related information to a diverse audience (engineers to executives).

Compensation Range:

$123,500.00 - $184,050.00 Annual

Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
