Here’s the scoop – Summary

The Regional Distributor Manager, U.S. exemplifies Mars Five Principles and upholds Champion’s reputation of leadership and trust among distributors, retailers, and consumers.  This position is responsible for establishing and maintaining trusting key relationships with our four regional distributors and retail partners.  Supports the National Sales strategy through development of customer budgets, volume forecasting, promotional planning, training, and development of Distributor Sales Representatives.

The Regional Distributor Manager, U.S. works out of a home-based office and resides within their region; up to 40% travel is required.  The position reports directly to the Director, U.S Sales, NHP.

You’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Establish and maintain trusting key relationships with distributor and retail partners.
  • Create annual Joint Business Plans with each distributor that are aligned to Champions Strategies, Goals and Measures.
  • Set up and execute key distributor meetings & events.
  • Monitor trade spending with retailers and distributors to maximize return on investment.
  • Implement the organization’s merchandising and branding standards.
  • Forecast volume for all distributors utilizing the latest trends, promotional and distribution plans, updated each period.
  • Achieve sales quotas and targets and report on deviations.
  • Develop business plans for distributor and meet or speak with each monthly.
  • Develop and conduct quarterly and yearly business reviews with retail partners.
  • Support the National Sales strategy through development of regional budgets.
  • Consult with distributors, retailers, and industry sources and report product performance, competitor, and industry intelligence.
  • Provide leadership, training, and sales coaching to Distributor Sales Representatives.
  • Coach and mentor sales representatives to grow retailer and distributor sales.
  • Work with the Director, U.S. Sales NHP, provide input into product development and business planning.
  • Provide leadership in industry trade shows, conferences, and exhibitions.

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years’ sales experience in pet food or a related industry with distribution network.
  • Experience managing accounts, including promotional planning and forecasting.
  • Enthusiastic and self-motivated professional, with strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop and sustain successful business relationships internally and externally.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and good listening skills, with ability to work successfully with diverse groups as well as independently.
  • Experience negotiating with customers to maximize return on investment.
  • Results-oriented with demonstrated business skills related to goal setting, budgeting and reporting, and analytical abilities to assess and interpret results.
  • Industry and product knowledge, honesty, integrity, and trust.
  • Flexibility to travel at least 40% of the time; travelling allowances are provided, as per company policy.
