Position Summary & Location

The Product Sourcing Leader, Finished Goods, is responsible for sourcing strategy enablement and project management on new product development and introduction. Projects span lighting, controls, and electronics end-products sourced with contract manufacturers. The Product Sourcing Leader, Finished Goods, optimizes for quality, competitive pricing, on-time delivery, and technology to meet our customer demand by engaging stakeholders to calibrate category sourcing and supply chain with product roadmaps. The ideal candidate is curious, energetic, a dynamic team player, and leads with a spirit of continuous improvement.

 

This position works remotely (from the U.S.).

Primary Responsibilities Include

  • Leading front-facing project management for Sourcing with business partners in Engineering, Product, Marketing, and Operations on New Product Development (NPI) projects
  • Leading Sourcing deliverables within Acuity’s 5-phase Product Development System (PDS) process
  • Developing Finished Good New Product Sourcing strategy and process improvements to achieve maximum team efficiency and effectiveness
  • Engaging in the product business case for project feasibility using qualitative and quantitative inputs
  • Partnering with category sourcing to provide initial component cost, lead times, supplier selection, contracting, and capital requirements to the NPI project team
  • Engaging Early Sourcing Involvement in product ideation, including DF(x) enablement
  • Developing Product Roadmap and Engineering Technology Roadmap processes, including Make vs. Buy Analysis and Decision-Making
  • Producing and sharing forecast of NPI spend and Bill of Materials, including identification of new and carryover businesses by Purchasing Taxonomy 
  • Connecting and calibrating NPI project-level requirements to sourcing category strategy at the supplier and category level

  • Supporting supply and demand planning reviews related to NPI projects in partnership with supply chain stakeholders, enabling effective component phase-in and phase-out for service and inventory management
  • Managing project timelines and ensuring compliance to deliver NPI projects within goals
  • Identifying and liaising with the category sourcing team on needs and opportunities to engage supplier development
  • Planning, accounting for, and ensuring the prototyping process for new components 
  • Participating in Advanced Sourcing and new technology development
  • Meeting deliverables related to Enterprise Risk, Quality, Delivery, and Cost  
  • Resolving issues with suppliers as they arise and addressing concerns/changes to the product involving quality, delivery, service, and/or price
  • Managing the new product implementation timeline and supporting expedited implementation if required
  • Developing and training sourcing leaders

Qualifications

  • Must have a bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field (a foreign degree equivalent is accepted) 
  • Must have 5 years of experience in sourcing or procurement positions within manufacturing, lighting, electronics, or similar industries performing the following:  
    • Leading complex sourcing projects such as New Product launches and value-add, value engineering (VAVE) projects
    • Selecting and sourcing diverse raw materials, electronic components, and mechanical/electromechanical component
    • Utilizing knowledge in Oracle procurement module, Microsoft Excel, and PowerBI
  • Prior experience in Sourcing Category Management and/or working with Contract Manufacturers is a plus
  • Must be proficient in using Microsoft Office 365 suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.) 
  • Must demonstrate tactfulness and persuasive communication/presentation/influencing skills
  • Proven success leading cross-functional teams and working well under tight deadlines
  • Must have strong analytical and technical writing skills
  • Available to travel based on business needs (domestic and international up to 25%)

The range for this position is $100,700.00 to $181,200.00. Placement within this range may vary, depending on the applicant’s experience and geographic location.
