Product Manager – Home/Mobile Products Protection

The Product Manager plays a pivotal role in driving the success of an assigned product portfolio or domain. Collaborating closely with various solution owners who integrate our products into our solutions, the Product Manager defines and delivers innovative solutions that cater to customer needs while aligning with our business
objectives. This includes working out what customers want, helping the business build the right product, and supporting the business to sell it. They also provide cross-functional leadership of the product vision for developing, supporting, marketing, and selling the product.

Specifically for Consumer Products Protection, these are products related to protection, both ESC and Insurance that are either standard requests from clients or innovation initiatives. These products can be standard portfolio or client branded/customized, and they can be sold by a manufacturer, retailer, carrier/network operator, or directly to a customer, to support growth and increase consumer sales, making sure they fit with the strategic vision and goals of the organization.

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?

Client Solution Development

  • Works with cross-functional teams (solutions sales (AE/BD), actuarial, finance, research, etc) and clients/prospects to develop/assemble Client-specific Solutions leveraging Assurant products, capabilities and bundled solutions.  Product expert who stays with client implementation through launch.
  • Drives utilization of Standard product and capabilities where possible, and manages custom development requirements to ensure they align with development roadmap, and to ensure true custom development is client paid.
  • Works closely with AEs and Product Operations, and Implementation Managers to ensure product construct can be implemented as specified.

Product Support

  • Cross functional Management: Responsible for aligning initiatives and roadmaps between core Protection and Field Sales, Sales Optimization, Finance, Actuarial, Pricing, Legal/Compliance
  • Review reports on product performance, market trends, and customer feedback.
  • Review Product and Release documentation (Release Notes, System Guides, etc.).
  • Review Product support materials (Ex: Visual collaboration documents, workflows, specifications, etc.). For end-consumer by a manufacturer, retailer, financial institution & affinity group, or directly to an end-consumer.
  • Ensure strategic alignment between products and providing a seamless user experience across the enterprise.
  • Track the success of implemented solutions through data analysis.
  • Review all regulatory filings and ensure compliance with all agencies.
  • Execute and then delegate fulfilment tasks as products become market ready.
  • Resolve issues within or across product teams that may affect product quality or goals.

Product Management

  • Leads and prioritize projects/initiatives to product goals, including identifying customer problems, defining and prototyping solutions, developing user stories, monitoring and communicating ticket status, QA, and release coordination.
  • Analyze and review competitive products and market trends to provide insights on market positioning and product differentiation.
  • Conduct thorough market research to identify product innovation and improvements opportunities.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to implementing best practices within the product management team.
  • Support the Product leadership with different stages of the product development lifecycle, from taking over ideas and validations to developing and launching products and optimizing or retiring them.
  • Create a shared vision and building consensus on priorities for product execution.

What are the requirements needed for this position?

  • 5+ years’ experience in product management, product analysis or a related field.
  • Excellent analytical and conceptual thinking skills and a high attention to detail.
  • Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written) across all levels of the
  • organization.
  • Proficient in MS Office and database programs.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and ever-changing global work environment.
  • A high degree of motivation and a self-starting attitude with a desire to thrive on new challenges and to take on additional responsibility.

What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?

  • Bachelor’s degree in preferred in Insurance, Finance, Business Administration, Marketing, Mathematics or related field.
  • Experience working with mobile, broadband/cable network operators or retail companies preferred. 
  • Experience in some combination of financial, operations, IT, project management.
  • Working understanding of device protection and insurance market and regulatory environment.
  • Strong relationship building skills, including an ability to influence internal & external stakeholders.
  • Ability to prioritize own work to meet tight deadlines with high sense of urgency.
  • Inquisitive nature and ability to seek out information.
  • Strong organizational skills.

Pay Range:

$86,000.00 - $143,700.00

Any posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.
