Principal Project Manager - Technical

Job Summary

The AI Platform Core Components organization, part of AI Engineering, is looking for individuals with passion for fostering an agile culture and helping grow the impact of Red Hat’s AI offerings for our customers and the community. The focus of our rapidly growing engineering organization is to productize Red Hat Enterprise Linux AI and to provide independence for AI Engineering on implementing AI accelerators and core layers of the stack. In the position of Agile Practitioner, you will have an exciting opportunity to encourage generative AI innovation through open source, contribute to the agile development of RHEL AI, and be at the forefront of the exciting evolution of AI. You will join an ecosystem that promotes collaboration, continuous improvement, and professional development.

If you enjoy working in a dynamic environment where each day provides interesting challenges and opportunities, this might be just the place for you. As a part of the RHEL AI’s team of agile practitioners, you will have the opportunity to support the agile culture of an entire organization. You will engage with stakeholders and engineering teams to promote and cultivate an agile mindset, and as an individual contributor, you will coach and mentor a subset of teams and ensure consistent application of agile best practices and tools. Just as importantly, you will be collaborating closely with like-minded agile professionals working with teams of their own as we build out an open organization that fully lives into the agile values and principles, and where everyone’s contributions and thoughts are valued and encouraged. At Red Hat, we focus on respectful adoption of agility through the identification and resolution of existing challenges rather than implementation of specific frameworks.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Establish collaborative partnerships and coach several cross-functional and distributed teams to advise them on their journey of continuous improvement

  • Guide teams in work and priorities visualization and tracking to ensure transparency and predictability

  • Provide training in areas where agile concepts are new or not followed

  • Establish and foster a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised and solutions found

  • Facilitate discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution

  • Drive continuous improvement on the team level through regular retrospection

  • Coach Product Owners, especially with respect to priorities definition and backlog management, and other leaders on agility and continuous improvement

  • Collaborate closely with other agile practitioners and project managers to build and influence an agile organization where best practices are followed

  • Facilitate cross-team collaboration and coordination for project mapping, dependency tracking, and impediment removal

  • Maintain and utilize the knowledge of the latest industry trends in agile methodologies

Required Skills

  • Experience with collaborating on agile transformations across various teams and organizations

  • Demonstrated track record of coaching teams at varying maturity levels on using agile and lean methods and delivering software products to production

  • Experience with Jira or other agile lifecycle management tools

  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM), Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP), Agile Team Facilitation (ICP-ATF) + Agile Coaching (ICP-ACC), or equivalent certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information technology or combination of relevant education and experience
