The Vocera Platform, an industry-leading clinical communication and workflow platform, is the intelligent ecosystem that connects clinical staff and information needed to deliver patient care. The Principal Product Owner, Intelligence Engine, will report to the Senior Director of R&D for Stryker’s Intelligence Engine group. In this role, you will help our customers solve business challenges by rapidly releasing products to the market and building user friendly, elastic, scalable, cost-optimized solutions. Solution components include intelligent alarm delivery, retrospective analytics, predictive analytics. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including regulatory, software engineering, DevOps, quality assurance, portfolio management, and healthcare experts, to ensure the delivery of high-quality, world-class software solutions.


What you will do:

The Principal Product Owner acts as a strategic leader and facilitator among multiple Product Owners, ensuring that the Intelligence Engine is in alignment with the overall product strategy set by the portfolio team, business needs, operational needs and sustaining activity. They play a key role in decision-making, stakeholder management, and maintaining the overall health and direction of the product or product suite.

  • Execute the strategic direction for the Intelligence Engine products. This involves aligning the product strategy with the company's overall business strategy and ensuring that all Product Owners work towards a common goal.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to other Product Owners. This includes mentoring and coaching to ensure that Product Owners are effective in their roles, adhere to best practices, and align with the product vision.
  • Oversee backlog prioritization for the Intelligence Engine working with Product Owners in their respective areas. They ensure that the most critical aspects of the product are being focused on and that resources are allocated effectively. 
  • Manage key stakeholders, particularly at the executive level. The Principal Product Owner must communicate the product vision, progress, and challenges to stakeholders and integrate their feedback into the product strategy.
  • Work with portfolio to keep a pulse on market trends, customer needs, and competitor activities is crucial. They ensure that the product strategy is relevant and competitive, adapting as necessary to changes in the market.
  • Use metrics to understand product performance in the market, usage as well as verifying resource use and cost projections are accurate.
  • Coordinate dependencies as product asks with other Vocera primary product owners and portfolio managers. Lead dependency and conflict resolution among Intelligence Engine product owners.
  • Ensure each Intelligence Engine program increment has the right mix of technical debt, new feature, regulatory, security, architecture and sustaining development.

What You Need

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering or bachelor’s degree in healthcare with work experience in complex healthcare system integration
  • 8+ years of overall experience with software or product development and processes.
  • 4+ years of experience in product management, business analysis or product owner roles
  • Experience in medical device software development practices as well as regulatory and security requirements

Preferred Qualifications (Strongly desired):

  • Agile Scrum Product Owner certification.
  • Presentation skills with a high level of comfort speaking with customers,  executives, and developers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with middleware, particularly in a hospital environment

$126,500 - $279,500 salary plus bonus eligible + benefits. Actual minimum and maximum may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.

Travel Percentage: 10%
