About the team

The Zillow Product Teams play a meaningful role in helping customers dream, shop, and transact on their next home across all our brands. We work with teams of Designers, Engineers, Data Scientists, and Researchers to tackle complex engineering problems and build products that help digitally transform the real estate industry. Some of our Product Teams are delivering end-to-end online experiences for shopping, renting, touring, or financing their home with Zillow, while other teams advance our industry leading platforms for agent partners and customers.

We build upon a quantitative and qualitative foundation to understand our users by rapidly testing, iterating, and launching customer experiences on the world’s largest online real estate marketplace. Our goal is to achieve Zillow 2.0, deliver seamlessly comprehensive solutions for buyers, sellers, and agents transacting with Zillow.

About the role

Looking to join our mission to redefine real estate? We are seeking accomplished Principal Product Managers who are passionate about improving the software developer experience to power faster and higher quality innovation. In this role, you will:

  • Deliver impact and results by defining success metrics, analyzing data for insights, prioritizing what to build, and coordinating with partner teams to align efforts to business strategies

  • Communicate and collaborate by articulating the “why” and "what" customer problem to solve, working with others, and balancing their point of view with solicited input of others

  • Inform strategy by monitoring competitors, understanding developer needs and technical designs of products to serve them

  • Mobilize your teams to do their best work by providing clear direction, handling dependencies, removing roadblocks and applying effective operating rhythms

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions.

In California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New York and Washington the standard base pay range for this role is $170,200.00 - $271,800.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New York and Washington and may not be applicable to other locations.

In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.

Who you are

  • Experience building platforms for developers and a deep technical understanding of those platforms, balanced with customer empathy, strong execution capability, and a track record of building strong business partnerships and delivering impactful business results

  • 6+ years designing and delivering world-class platform products that solve big customer needs, specifically in large scale distributed systems and platforms

  • Experience with container ecosystem, Kubernetes, serverless (AWS Lambda, Google Cloud Functions, etc.) development and operational tools

  • Experience defining, building, and delivering products on public clouds – AWS, Azure, and GCP

  • A good understanding of defining and building SaaS and/or enterprise services, products, and infrastructure at scale

  • You are intimately familiar with modern software development practices used to build and deploy applications

  • Collaborates cross-functionally across multiple teams (Engineering, UX/Design, Analytics etc.), estimating level of effort, identifying dependencies, and resource needs

  • Strong written and oral communication and team management skills, the ability to simplify complex topics, and comfort presenting at all levels of the organization
