Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management for Kubernetes (RHACM) is a hybrid cloud solution that extends the value of our OpenShift Container Platform and other Kubernetes distributions. It does so by deploying applications, managing fleets of clusters, and enforcing configuration and security policies across the fleets in hybrid cloud environments, at scale.
The RHACM team is looking for a Principal Software Engineer to design and build-out new virtualization management capabilities in collaboration with multiple cross-functional teams in the Red Hat lines of products. In this role, you will contribute to the engineering features related to Container Native Virtualization (CNV). You will have the opportunity to work in the upstream community and contribute to the agile design, development, test, and delivery of these capabilities in RHACM.
As a member of the Development Engineering team, you will be actively collaborating in a multidisciplinary and global team on all epics and stories, that includes Product Management, Build, DevOps, UX Design, Quality Engineering, Content Services, and other development squads.

What you will do:
Create and guide new feature development
Coordinate with team leads, architects, and other engineers on the design and architecture of our work
Deliver new features in RHACM, while contributing to the design, development, integration, and testing upstream and downstream
Collaborate in a multidisciplinary team towards the common objective to deliver new and enhanced capabilities desired by customers, from requirements, planning, design/development, QE, through to GA and supporting customers
Become responsible for the quality of the features, participate in peer code reviews and continuous integration (CI), and respond to security threats
Apply agile practices and ceremonies
Meet development and quality objectives
Write automated tests for the continuous delivery pipeline
Publicize the team’s work through blogs, web postings or conference talks
What you will bring:
Advanced technical skills and knowledge - 5+ years
Golang
Cloud native architectures and development
Pythons
Knowledge of Virtualization technologies such as KVM, vSphere, or RHV
Ability to examine various technological areas deeply and deliver solutions
Attention to detail
Self-starter
Experience with agile development practices
Proficient working with Github and experience with Jira
Proficient written and verbal communication in English
Ability to collaborate effectively in a global team environment
Demonstrated ability to debug and learn new technologies
The following are considered a plus:
Knowledge or experience with any of the following:
Red Hat Openshift Container Platform or other Kubernetes distributions
Contributing to open source and communities
Experience with cloud development
Familiarity with operator framework, networking, storage
Experience with Ansible
Pay Transparency
Red Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat’s compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity. For positions with Remote-US locations, the actual salary range for the position may differ based on location but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
