Overview

As a Portfolio Analyst in the Community Development Finance Group (CDFG), you will play a pivotal role in delivering financial solutions that enhance the lives of those in low- and moderate-income communities across the U.S., particularly in New York City. You will be instrumental in the underwriting, reporting, operations, and asset management of high-impact loans and investments, directly contributing to closing the racial-wealth gap through initiatives in affordable housing, entrepreneurship, economic development, and more. Your work will not only support addressing community needs but also ensure compliance with the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), embodying our commitment to social, racial, and economic justice.

What You’ll Do

  • Assist with lending and investment transactions through the life of the transaction, including supporting due diligence, financial analysis, and drafting memos
  • Manage deal closing processes including KYC, legal review, and post-closing requirements
  • Coordinate and prepare for quarterly and annual credit reviews, serving as a key point of contact for clients. Analyze and synthesize client reporting and portfolio data, ensuring client compliance with financial covenants and reporting requirements
  • Take a leading role in the ongoing operations of the portfolio, continually improving on processes and controls
  • Work internally with loan operations, business finance, KYC-AML teams, valuation team, and other core functions to asset manage and service loan and equity portfolios
  • Prepare reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders, contributing to the Bank’s CRA regulatory examination and ongoing data collection

Skills You’ll Need

  • A Bachelor’s degree in real estate finance, urban studies, business, public policy, or a related discipline
  • Relevant experience in an analytic role within financial services, real estate, or community development sectors
  • Exceptional analytical, writing, presentation, and organization skills with the ability to clearly communicate complex transactions
  • Proficiency in financial analysis, including an understanding of accounting principles and Microsoft Excel
  • A demonstrated passion for community development and a commitment to social, racial, and economic justice

Skills That Will Help You Excel

  • Exceptional verbal communication, writing, and presentation skills
  • Detail-oriented with a proficiency in Excel & PowerPoint and a knack for learning new systems/applications
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a dynamic team
  • Curiosity and knowledge of the NYC community development sector, with experience in public and nonprofit sectors as a plus
  • Background in working with community development financial institutions (CDFIs), non-profit institutions, commercial real estate finance, or equity investments

Expectations

It is the Bank’s expectation that employees hired into this role will work in the New York office in accordance with the Bank’s hybrid working model.

The salary range for this position in New York City is $80,000 to $125,000. Actual salaries may be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s skill set, experience, education, work location and other qualifications.  Posted salary ranges do not include incentive compensation or any other type of remuneration.
