Pharmacy Executive IV - Spend Managment

Summary:

In this role, you will draw upon your demonstrated expertise in pharmacy practice to accurately assess pharmacy operating environments, review and prioritize member challenges, and design operational and clinical plans to achieve efficient, high value pharmacy programs.  You will focus on formulary management, medication conversions, clinical initiatives, sourcing opportunities, supply chain optimization to support cost savings and pharmacy optimization. You will position members' pharmacy enterprise to provide optimal value to the organization through adoption of industry leading practices. You will participate in project management initiatives, conduct pharmacy assessments, implementation of high priority opportunities and enhance pharmacy services revenues. You will develop relationships with hospital executives, administrators, clinicians, directors of pharmacy, supply chain leaders, key opinion leaders and internal Vizient groups.

Responsibilities:

  • Consult with pharmacists to develop and implement clinical pharmacy programs that will reduce costs while maintaining or improving quality of care to patients.
  • Analyze pharmaceutical purchases to validate and estimate identified opportunities for improved formulary management.
  • Maximize market share and product standardization, resulting in best pricing.
  • Engage in therapeutic interchange programs, automatic therapeutic substitutions and IV to oral streamlining opportunities.
  • Work with clinical leaders to discuss and facilitate changes in formulary management.
  • Maintain and support standardized documents, tools, and calculators to support consulting offerings.
  • Assist team in evaluating and positioning requests for new and significant formulary additions; develop draft protocols, clinical tools and order sets as identified.
  • Facilitate innovation in offerings through networking with key clinical pharmacy opinion leaders, novel information gathering and review of the literature.
  • Conduct practical assessments of pharmacy and medication management programs in member health systems, infusion centers, ambulatory surgery centers and associated provider offices and clinics.
  • Provide information and solutions utilizing evidenced based literature, regulatory standards, data analysis, and leading practices from other Vizient member health systems. 
  • Utilize industry leading practices, pharmaceutical care standards and benchmark comparisons to develop strategic operating plans that will position the pharmacy program for optimal value, efficiency, and service excellence.
  • Develop project work plans and provide hands on implementation support to achieve high priority objectives.
  • Meet with pharmacy and supply chain industry representatives to evaluate potential sourcing opportunities.
  • Negotiate contracts to maximize value for the member.
  • Meet or exceed contractual value targets for all assigned projects.
  • Create and deliver influential communications with clarity and confidence to health system senior executives.
  • Support Vizient consulting practice activities, including development, launch and implementation of new or improved services and products.

Qualifications:

  • Pharmacy degree required. PharmD preferred. Master’s degree in business or healthcare Administration from an accredited university is preferred.
  • 7 or more years of relevant experience in pharmacy at an acute care hospital required.
  • Experience with 340B is preferred.
  • Experience with Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee activities preferred.
  • Board of Pharmacy registration is preferred and have completed a clinically oriented pharmacy residency (ASHP approved residency).
  • Ability to demonstrate uncompromising integrity collaborating with Vizient Members to instill trust, fairness, and credibility.

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Ability to travel regularly and expeditiously throughout the year to meet member’s needs and timetables.

Estimated Hiring Range:

$135,200.00 - $201,200.00
