A Brief Overview
Under the supervision of the Market Development & Outreach Director, the executive physician liaison serves as a representative of Stanford Medicine to the community including physician groups, healthcare organizations, and health plans. Stanford Medicine is inclusive of Stanford Health Care, ValleyCare and University Healthcare Alliance. Primary responsibilities of the role include:
• promotion of the comprehensive clinical services and providers part of Stanford Medicine, as well as educational programs and innovative initiatives, all in accordance with initiatives reflective of Stanford Medicine's overarching strategic vision and imperatives
• development and management of community relationships including serving as the primary point of contact and timely follow-up of requests and all customer service and patient experience issues
• representation of Stanford Medicine and the growing market in a responsive and professional manner

What you will do

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the health care landscape in the Bay Area regional (21-county) marketplace and beyond, and the market factors that affect assigned service lines and geographies

  • Develop an in-depth knowledge of faculty and programs within the Stanford system

  • Represent Stanford Medicine programs, physicians, and facilities in the community to increase awareness of services offered and expanding geographic reach

  • Establish, maintain, and enhance organizational relationship with community physicians, physician groups and healthcare organizations developing meaningful relationships with key contacts, timely follow-up on requests, service recovery and integrating activities with those of market development and outreach team

  • Under the direction of the market development and outreach team and in accordance with initiatives reflective of Stanford Medicine’s overarching strategic vision and imperatives, develop data-driven outreach plans for prioritized service lines and geographies

  • Identify, plan and execute appropriate outreach efforts for the identified priorities including but not limited to virtual outreach programs, office visits, MD field days, community outreach, dinner/ lunch programs

  • Introduce innovative and new outreach approaches to the team

  • Disseminate real-time market knowledge, observed changing trends and identify opportunities for potential alliance for the organization

  • Establish and adhere to an ongoing schedule of visits to physicians and medical groups in identified target areas based on outreach plans and priorities established by the team

  • Complete face-to-face meetings with physicians, schedulers, practice managers, and medical staff from referring physicians, medical groups, and hospitals to ensure that a thorough understanding is gained regarding the physician and medical facility staff desires and needs

  • Assist marketing department in development of collateral materials relevant to physician practices; collaborate with both the CME and SHC marketing departments in the development of outreach activities, programs, events, lunches, dinners, etc.

  • Notify appropriate departments or divisions of problem areas for resolution and inform them of needs for clinical services and educational programs identified during field visits.

  • Prepare professional presentations and/or summaries that address key needs of the targeted groups, and present information on clinical programs and related CME and other outreach activities

  • Attend and professionally represent Stanford Medicine at assigned community events, dinners, lunches, programs, etc.

  • Provide regular updates and clear communication regarding key activities, outreach plans, new relationships developed, identified issues, etc.

  • Adhere to standard work and metrics as outlined by the team including but not limited to protocols around communication, weekly targets and reporting

  • Embrace and practice CI-CARE initiatives

  • Participate in process improvement activities as assigned


Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university


Experience Qualifications

  • Four (4) years of progressively responsible and directly related experience

  • Highly self-motivated and able to work independently

  • Excellent critical thinking, emotional intelligence and relationship building skills

  • Ability to be flexible in work priorities as organizational needs change

  • Ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels and in situations requiring instructing, persuading, negotiating, conflict resolution, consulting and advising as well as prepare clear, comprehensive written and oral reports and materials

  • Ability to make effective oral presentations and prepare concise written reports to a variety of audiences

  • Ability to solve problems and identify solutions

  • Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area


Licenses and Certifications

  • CADL - California Drivers License - Valid And In State required

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $60.92 - $80.73 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
