Manager, Strategic Sourcing

Position Purpose: Lead business partners through the end-to-end Strategic Sourcing Process. Drive value using competitive pricing events, RFPs, and direct negotiations, to establish favorable commercial terms. Mitigate legal and financial risk through effective contract formulation and negotiation .

• Grow and maintain relationships with internal customers to identify current and future business needs
• Be a consultative expert for business owners on the Strategic Sourcing process.
• Determine best Strategic Sourcing approach depending on category and market landscape to drive best value for business owners.
• Develop strategic approach to negotiate commercials and required compliance terms and conditions within purchase agreements on Centene’s behalf.
• Create procurement sourcing goals for the team; ensure projects are on track and manage expectations of customers
• Develop relationships with management and vendors who will provide the best service, quality, price, terms and conditions, warranties, and technical assistance on the materials and supplies to be purchased
• Determine strategies for sourcing goods and services across the entire corporation Implement scorecards for strategic suppliers that will assist in managing supplier performance and ensuring contract compliance
• Train and promote sourcing and contracting professionals to grow the capabilities of the team
• Support a culture of service-orientation with all partners involved, balanced with a driven solution-oriented approach
• Utilize market research along with RFI and RFP results to develop sourcing strategy and supplier selection process based on total cost of ownership, vendor scorecards and financial modeling
• Lead cross-functional teams to gather required information to develop initiative strategy; identify synergies and risks

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
• 5+ years of experience with negotiations, contracts, category management, or project management.
• Previous experience in Strategic Sourcing processes including competitive bidding, negotiating complex contracts, and evaluating supplier proposals strongly preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of procurement law and specific legal risks associated with procurement practices and contract language strongly preferred.
• Experience with healthcare payer organization strongly preferred.
• Experience in project management strongly preferred.

License/Certification:

• Certified Procurement Professional strongly preferred
• Project Manager Professional preferred
