The base salary range for a Manager-Request for Proposal (RFP) Response is $79,000 to $150,000. Actual salaries will vary by geographic location and are based on factors such as candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, competencies, and company tenure & equity. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan based on company performance and individual performance.

 

Manager-Request for Proposal (RFP) Response Overview 

Ancillary insurance RFP experience is a minimum requirement to be considered.  

The Manager- RFP Response is responsible for overseeing and managing the daily operations of the RFP team, ensuring high-quality, timely, and accurate responses to RFP opportunities. This role involves close collaboration with internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure that RFP content aligns with company offerings and is delivered on time. The Manager will organize and prioritize the RFP inventory, handle escalated issues, recommend process improvements, and manage performance data and reports. Additionally, this role will maintain a current and comprehensive database of standard RFP responses. 

 

Essential Duties:  

  • Manage the RFP team’s workload, ensuring that responses are timely and of the highest quality 
  • Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., Marketing, Product, Sales, Operations, IT) and external stakeholders to ensure RFP content is accurate, complete, and relevant to the client’s needs
  • Propose and implement process improvements to streamline the RFP response workflow
  • Oversee the tracking of RFP timelines, ensuring that all internal deadlines are met and that proposals are completed in alignment with company objectives
  • Develop and maintain RFP performance reports to measure efficiency and success 
  • Ensure that the RFP database is continuously updated with accurate and current information, allowing for fast and effective responses to future RFPs 
  • Manage complex or high-value RFP situations, providing guidance and support to the team on escalated issues
  • Lead the team in maintaining up-to-date, standardized RFP content that reflects changes in product offerings, policies, and market trends
  • Represent the RFP Response team in cross-functional projects and committees, ensuring effective communication and collaboration across departments
  • Conduct Quality Assurance (QA) reviews of RFP responses to ensure high standards are met 
  • Lead strategy discussions for complex RFPs, setting clear expectations and providing direction for proposal development
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Advanced understanding of ancillary insurance products, industry regulations and organizational processes and procedures 
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to multitask and perform under deadline pressure 
  • Knowledge of information gathering, planning, and organizing methods and principles  
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint 
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment 
  • Highly self-motivated and directed 
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to work on special projects/committees and serve as lead when required 

 

Required Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Business Administration, or related field 
  • 3-5 years of experience in ancillary sales operations, RFP, marketing, or quality assurance including experience leading programs, projects, and/or relationships
  • 2 or more years supervisory and/or team lead experience 
  • Or equivalent experience 

 

Preferred Education and Experience: 

  • Master's degree
  • Insurance Agent license 
  • 5+ years ancillary sales or customer service experience in insurance field or managing customer accounts through interfacing 
  • 1-2 years' management/leadership experience
  • Problem resolution experience and project management/implementation experience
