Overview

LMI is seeking a Logistics Sustainment Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support activities related to the modernization of Department of Defense sustainment strategies. These strategies must be able to operate effectively and efficiently in contested logistics environments. This role includes supporting the development of sustainment frameworks and associated solutions that support rapid regeneration of weapon system readiness in contested environments. Other aspects include the incorporation of technological advancements and collaborative industry partnerships to ensure a ready, agile, and resilient sustainment ecosystem.

 

This position will work closely with a cross-functional team consisting of government experts, product support professionals and logistics experts to provide expert guidance and knowledge of sustainment processes, procedures, and support activities.

 

Note: This position is remote with occasional travel to the Washington, DC area.

Responsibilities

  • Support sustainment strategy activities to include assessments and reviews, analytical and research support, meeting facilitation, data analyses, subject matter expertise in various sustainment best practices, technology scanning, and strategic communications.
  • Collect stakeholder inputs from various organizations to include Combatant Commands, Services, Defense Agencies, Joint Staff, and coalition partners (as applicable) to identify priorities and assess gaps across the sustainment enterprise.
  • Conduct Gap Analysis (considering aspects such as Doctrine, Organization, Training, Materiel, Leadership, Personnel, and Facilities - DOTMLF-P) to identify capability gaps.
  • Utilize stakeholder inputs, lessons learned and priorities to delineate requirements and develop sustainment frameworks for various platforms, services, and locations.
  • Engage in the development and execution of pilot activities, including the evaluation of existing location-specific efforts, to assess current capabilities and capacity.
  • Conduct technology scouting to identify candidate technologies to address critical use cases. This includes rapidly evaluating technology solutions, surveying industry to determine how tech solutions have been successfully implemented and assisting the government navigate the buy, build, or extend decisions, and support solution adoption.
  • Prepare and coordinate working papers, briefings, and other documentation in support of program management and policy development responsibilities.
  • Support actions, studies, and metrics to enhance readiness/deployment programs and theater distribution operations, monitor program actions and progress.
  • Provide support by engaging with senior leaders to communicate progress and benefits of technology adoption.
  • Moderate travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 8+ years of experience operating as a functional expert, consulting, implementing, or contributing to military operations, logistics, or sustainment operations in the defense industry.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and relevant experience with sustainment support to DoD including processes, procedures or systems associated with sustainment activities.
  • Experience with complex problem-solving strategies. Able to determine the source of a problem and find effective solution(s) through an in-depth evaluation of factors.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with cross-functional teams; experience with working projects remotely is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, presentation and writing skills to successfully interact with colleagues and executive client leadership.
  • Ability to work independently and deliver high quality work under time constraints.
  • Demonstrate superior writing and presentation skills to develop briefings, documents, papers, conceptual, and analytical reports for clients.
  • Active DOD Secret clearance

Targeted Salary Range: $120,000 - $200,000
