Ferguson is actively hiring a Lead Real Estate and Facilities Design Specialist who will develop and implement design strategies that align with the company's vision and brand identity!

Location: This role is approved to be fully Remote anywhere in the United States or hybrid in the Newport News VA area.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee design projects throughout the entire creative process, including Programming, Schematic Design, and Design Development, while defining the strategy and any design-specific budget and timeline for each project.
  • Partner with Supply Chain and Warehouse Design teams to integrate their specifications into the design process, including automation elements.
  • Manage the design of projects with overall budgets that often exceed $20M and square footage of 200,000+.
  • Build and maintain relationships with executive partners, delivering high-impact presentations to communicate design strategies and secure consensus.
  • Serve as a key decision-maker in addressing partner feedback, aligning project outcomes with business priorities.
  • Enforce standards for third-party vendor performance, ensuring compliance with Ferguson Standards and quality benchmarks.
  • Work within advanced workflows, tools, and playbook methodologies to drive consistency, efficiency, and excellence across all design initiatives.
  • Spearhead continuous improvement initiatives, using data and insights to refine design processes and outcomes.
  • Deliver comprehensive design updates on scope, schedule, budget, and risks to senior leadership, offering actionable solutions for mitigation.
  • Ensure adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), using tools such as Net Promoter Scores (NPS) to assess performance.
  • Drive accelerated timelines with a focus on quality and speed to market.
  • Champion design thinking methodologies to address complex challenges and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Uphold and promote high standards for design quality and brand consistency across all deliverables.
  • Represent the organization as a design expert, staying ahead of industry trends and influencing standard methodologies within the field.

Preferred Education and experience

  • 10-12+ years of experience in commercial industrial space, warehouse and storage yard, and showroom environments. Wholesale and distribution center experience a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of permitting, zoning, and municipal requirements, with a proactive approach to navigating these processes.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of project deliverables from Programming to Design Development, with the ability to oversee design management and intent during the Construction phase.
  • Excellent understanding of design principles, methodologies, space planning, codes and regulations, and standard methodologies.
  • Expertise in collaborating with a broad range of collaborators, including internal teams, external partners, and executives.
  • Proficient in Creative Design, Budgeting, Relationship Building, Time Management, Risk Mitigation, Planning, and Communication (both written and verbal).
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and Bluebeam Revu.
  • NCIDQ or other relevant licensure is a plus.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.

Actual pay rate may vary depending upon location. The estimated pay range for this position is below. The specific rate will depend on a candidate’s qualifications and prior experience.

$7,949.70 - $13,016.30

Estimated Ranges displayed are Monthly for Salaried roles OR Hourly for all other roles.

This role is Bonus or Incentive Plan eligible.
