The role

Loom is looking for an experienced and passionate Lead Product Designer to own and drive forward the Growth experience of Loom. Growth Product Designers work on initiatives that increase the amount of creators, viewers, and teams on Loom – empowering millions of people to communicate faster and more effectively at work. This person will be a strong craft and people-focused leader, who embodies the values we seek in our design leaders to lead with empathy and resilience.

As Lead Product Designer, you will be a player/coach. As coach, you will be managing a talented team of Growth designers and co-own the user-centered vision, strategy, and design execution of our end to end Growth journey (Acquisition, Activation, Engagement, Billing & Monetization). You will craft a vision that is based in user insights that inspires and delivers, and champion the people on your team to deliver graceful and delightful experiences. As player, you will dive in to focus specifically on Activation as an IC designer, delivering value through both small, iterative tests and foundational, vision projects.

You will be a user champion and a trusted leader to colleagues across the organization, and work with leadership to shape how the growth of Loom impacts the business and growth of the company directly. You’ll partner with every team across Product, Design, Marketing, and Engineering to help drive activation, engagements and team expansion. You will define best practices, design for challenges both big and small, and lay the foundations for our product for years to come.

You’ll report to a Head of Design at Loom. This is a remote role. To help our teams work better together, you must be located between PST and EST.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to deliver high craft as an IC:

    • Sketch and prototype ideas to quickly access viability, and design the fine grained details of interactions

    • Drive high fidelity designs with great attention to detail all the way through to delivery

    • Conduct usability testing to inform your design decisions

  • Ability to lead high craft as a Manager:

    • Lead and manage 2 product designers, empowering ICs to execute roadmap with high quality bar, leading through design inspiration in order to deliver Loom’s experience principles of simple and fast.

  • Strategy owner & influencer with strong product sense:

    • With Product & Engineering leadership, define and own user-centered strategy and design execution of growth projects

      • Proactively identify new problems and opportunities for the team that are rooted in user problems, working intimately with user research and data to propose paths forward

      • Partner with go-to-market teams to help shape our growth strategy and to bring a user centric approach to implementing for different customer segments both in product and in marketing surfaces

      • For roadmap delivery, partner with engineering and product to have a working understanding of technical systems in order to creatively scope prioritization & trade-offs

  • Design leader:

    • Work alongside the broader Design leadership team to craft our teams’ culture, processes, and tools and ensure we’re building toward a connected vision and product experience

Qualifications

  • You believe deeply in the power of video and its ability to transform communication at work

  • You have a minimum of 8-10 years of experience in Product Design and a minimum of 2-3 years experience of managing Product Designers ,

  • You have expertise and a background in growth design roles for organizations in organizations that have shipped software to users, partnering closely with Product and Engineering

  • You stand on an outstanding portfolio, with presentable case studies showcasing a foundation in typography, interaction and visual design, product sense, and idea generation

  • You have experience in people development and up-leveling design craft – you have what it takes to grow and empower an incredible design team

  • You have demonstrable experience working with data, conducting and measuring product design experiments, and a passion for setting and achieving OKRs and metrics that materially impact the business.

  • You are a coach to others and give and ask for honest and critical feedback - you inspire, not merely direct

  • You have experience leading a diverse team in a rapid growth environment. Huge plus if you’ve worked with distant teammates and understand the communication patterns of working with highly distributed teams

  • You're an excellent communicator, both written and verbal, and you're comfortable managing high-stakes communications

  • You embody a learning and growth mindset: Our team size and our design process will evolve and change many times over the next few years. We strive to continuously improve and integrate what we learn — from our work and with each other

Compensation

At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs. To support this goal, the baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range, but in turn we expect to hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience. In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:

Zone A: $188,700 - $251,600

Zone B: $169,900 - $226,500

Zone C: $156,600 - $208,900

This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.
