Lead ML Engineer (Team Lead)

We are currently expanding our team in the Americas and are looking to hire a Pod Lead  to oversee a growing team of Engineers covering ML Engineering and Data Science. 



As Pod Lead at Datatonic, you will provide:

 

Team Leadership:

Provide technical leadership and guidance to the ML team, ensuring best practices and adherence to industry standards.
Recruit, hire, and onboard talented data scientists and machine learning engineers.
Provide mentorship and coaching to team members, fostering their professional growth.
Create a positive and inclusive team culture that encourages innovation and collaboration.
Conduct performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.

 

Delivery Leadership

Oversee complex ML projects, from inception to deployment.
Ensure timely and high-quality delivery of project deliverables.
With Delivery Managers, define project scope, timelines, and resource allocation.
Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.

 

Client Leadership

Build strong relationships with clients and understand their business needs and challenges.
Communicate effectively with clients, both technical and non-technical, to explain complex technical concepts.
Present findings and recommendations to clients in a clear and compelling manner.

 

Technical Leadership:

+  Participate in the sales process as the sales engineer by designing robust and scalable ML solutions and accurately scoping Statements of Work (SOW) and estimating delivery effort
+  Collaborate with other technical leads and subject matter experts to define innovative solutions.
Lead or contribute to internal initiatives and special projects to advance our ML practice, including developing new methodologies, improving tools, and refining best practices.
Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in machine learning and AI, and share knowledge with the team.



Requirements:

+  Demonstrated leadership and management experience of technical employees.
5+ years of experience in machine learning and data science, with a strong track record of delivering successful projects.
+  Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
+  Proven experience leading and mentoring teams of data scientists and machine learning engineers.
+  Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Strong software engineering skills with a focus on machine learning frameworks (e.g. TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn), and cloud platforms, especially Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
+  Passion for data and a desire to solve real-world problems using machine learning.

Datatonic is a UK based company with an Americas division based in Canada. The Canadian team is remote-only, mostly distributed across North and South America. This role is open to folks based anywhere in Canada.

Salary: CAD 150,000$ - CAD 170,000$
