Your role at Sephora:

As a Lead Engineer you will lead, design, develop, implement and support applications that will enhance the overall digital experience of our end users and systems that consume services provided by one of the best considered Loyalty Platforms in retail industry. Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, you will work closely with extremely talented peers, engineers from cross functional teams, leads and architects to understand and brainstorm on omni-channel solutions and design patterns required to solve a specific problem at hand. Responsibilities:

  • Lead, design and implement Java microservices for high availability eCommerce platform components systems using Object-Oriented design principles, data structures, algorithms, DBMS/SQL, and Software Engineering practices  
  • Innovate and drive technical vision, influence platform roadmap and vision. Mentor and lead the engineering team as a subject matter expert for all technology,

    performance and architecture related issues on the eCommerce platform.
  • Collaborate with the enterprise engineering leads to drive key design decisions, document/communicate architectural expectations and ensure alignment for enterprise programs.
  • Know the latest industry trends and evaluate new technologies for appropriateness of
    applications.
  • Ensure platform components have a clear separation of concerns and are designed for reliability or easy scaling. Participate and provide feedback for load and performance testing. Define and implement logging, monitoring and alerting framework for critical metrics at various levels. Provide guidance and mentoring to the engineers in the team in following the best practices in microservices implementation and assist in troubleshooting issues across the eCommerce application stack to support operational issues and system production issues impacting business.
  • Influence decisions, build consensus, and resolve conflicts constructively and proactively.

We’re excited about you if you have:

  • 8+ years Hands-on experience with various client-side technologies like JavaScript, ReactJs, NodeJs, ES6, HTML/HTML5, CSS (Sass/Less), XHR, REST APIs
  • 8+ years' Hands-on experience with JavaScript prominent libraries and frameworks (React, Redux, Angular, Underscore, etc), tools (Webpack, Grunt, npm, etc), cross-browser compatibility, unit testing (Jest, Jasmine, Enzyme, etc), and performance optimization
  • 8+ years' Hands-on experience in planning, designing, developing and delivering enterprise solutions with excellent debug and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong understanding of React and Redux preferred
  • Strong experience with Java/J2EE, Spring, Spring Boot frameworks and other web related technologies
  • Full stack expertise in both frontend (React & Node) and backend (Java) platforms is preferred.
  • Understanding on the basic concepts of Kubernetes architecture and Caching Design Principles is preferred
  • First-hand experience in designing, deploying and managing RESTful APIs using JSON message structures
  • Hands-on experience with designing cloud-based applications using micro services architecture and best practices preferably on MS Azure cloud platform
  • Highly preferred if you have experience with decomposing monolith application into micro services
  • Hands-on experience with Istio service mesh, Feign client for third party calls, service discovery, Prometheus and Azure logging
  • Experience in Implementation of monitoring and alerts dashboards using Splunk, Nagios and App Dynamics

 

 

The annual base salary range for this position is $152,010.00 - $187,700.00 The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the applicant’s qualifications for the position; years of relevant experience; specific and unique skills; level of education attained; certifications or other professional licenses held; other legitimate, non-discriminatory business factors specific to the position; and the geographic location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will perform the job.  Individuals employed in this position may also be eligible to earn bonuses.  Sephora offers a generous benefits package to full-time employees, which includes comprehensive health, dental and vision plans; a superior 401(k) plan, various paid time off programs; employee discount/perks; life insurance; disability insurance; flexible spending accounts; and an employee referral bonus program.
