This is a key role on our ESG & Impact team that focuses on the first pillar of our Impact Strategy - our internal operations and Autodesk's GHG emissions reduction commitments. Autodesk has committed to SBTi approved targets to reduce our carbon footprint across Scopes 1, 2, and 3 by 2030 (see our FY24 Impact Report). This is an exciting opportunity for an impact driven professional to support the data behind our decarbonization roadmap through collaboration across all areas of our business. You will help support the program that upholds rigorous data quality and transparency as a key input to the dynamic ESG and climate disclosure landscape. In the process, you will also help identify the opportunities and gaps in this everchanging landscape and help realize Autodesk's Impact Strategy. The role will challenge you to work across interdisciplinary teams with a wide range of client and project types
Responsibilities
The intern will support our greenhouse gas accounting and Scope 1, 2 and 3 decarbonization initiatives. Autodesk conducts a yearly greenhouse gas inventory and has set a Scope 1&2 absolute reduction target as well as Scope 3 targets for intensity reduction and supplier engagement. The intern will be trained to use our greenhouse gas accounting software and support data processing, upload, and analysis for our greenhouse gas footprint. Once the intern understands our emissions sources, they will work on two main projects:
Model the emissions reduction potentials of cloud/artificial intelligence and business travel decarbonization initiatives. Quantify emissions reductions and analyze costs and feasibility in the short, medium and long term
Support analysis and re-submission of our current Science-Based Target reduction goals with the SBTi organization
Support data analysis of our data center electricity, cloud computing and artificial intelligence usage. Compare year over year trends and analyze the impact of artificial intelligence on our computing emissions
Minimum Qualifications
Must be currently enrolled in a full-time, degree seeking program with an expected graduation date in 2026 or later
Solid understanding of basic sustainability concepts including renewable energy and overall ESG
Familiarity with corporate carbon accounting, the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and corporate climate targets (ie, SBTi)
Strong data analysis and Excel skills, ability to synthesize conclusions from data and communicate to different audiences
Ability to work independently and support projects with multiple stakeholders, with clear communication and problem-solving skills
Passion for tackling climate change and excitement to learn about Autodesk’s impact team
Preferred Qualifications
Prior sustainability experience from internships, contracting, or other related projects
Prior experience in engineering, data analysis or chemistry
Prior experience informed about business strategy related to travel, offices, and cloud data a plus
Experience working on decarbonization analysis for Scopes 1, 2, and 3

Experience working with greenhouse gas accounting software
