The American Heart Association’s Internship Program provides college students an opportunity for hands-on experience in various facets for individuals interested in gaining work experience with a non-profit, voluntary health organization. 

 

Under close supervision and mentorship of experienced public health professionals, students will apply classroom learning to practical problems. Throughout this process students will develop and strengthen skills such as: research methods, health communication, and community engagement.

 

Students will enhance their existing skill set by learning strategies to improve health outcomes in diverse communities by planning and conducting health education workshops, developing and implementing outreach strategies to specific racial and ethnic minority communities, and create culturally competent resources and communications that can be utilized by these communities to prevent or manage cardiovascular disease, hypertension, and stroke.

 

The Association offers many resources to help you maintain work-life harmonization through changing needs and life situations. Internship Overview:

  • Time Commitment: 20-25 hours per week
  • Internship Duration: 9/9/24 – 12/6/24
  • Location: The intern must be based in San Diego, CA or surrounding areas
  • Salary: $23.00 per hour

 

Internship Outcomes:

Individuals participating in the internship program are provided with an opportunity to:
