The American Heart Association’s Internship Program provides college students an opportunity for hands-on experience in various facets for individuals interested in gaining work experience with a non-profit, voluntary health organization. 

The Association offers many resources to help you maintain work-life harmonization through your changing needs and life situations. Internship Overview:

  • Time Commitment: 20 hours per week
  • Internship Duration: 9/9/24 – 12/6/24
  • Location: Intern must be based in Houston, TX, or the immediate surrounding area.
  • Salary: $23.00 per hour

Internship Outcomes:

Responsibilities

Tasks could include things like the following:

  • Support work around clinical and community impact priority issues including hypertension control, outpatient quality improvement programs, nutrition insecurity, community response, and tobacco/vaping.
  • Assist community impact team in communicating the impact of local work.
  • Understand the principles and practices of public health planning, research administration, and evaluation.
  • Deeper understanding of public health by increasing their awareness of cultural needs, and challenges of connecting resources to diverse populations.
