Integrated Project Delivery Enterprise Unit Leader

Brown and Caldwell is looking for a highly motivated collaborator to lead its Integrated Project Delivery Enterprise Unit (IPD). BC continues to see rapid growth in IPD as our core U.S. municipal, state, federal, and private sector clients demand these services.

BC defines IPD as a number of full-service solutions, including design/build, design-for-design/build, engineer/procure/construct, owners advisor services, and operations & maintenance services.

The IPD Enterprise Leader (IPD Leader) will be a recognized construction/environmental industry leader and will demonstrate an in-depth understanding of market conditions, players, and opportunities. Leadership and the ability to direct teams of experienced managers is critical. The IPD Leader will help refine our strategic direction and maintain alignment with that direction within IPD and throughout the company. A keen understanding of risk and construction contracting is required. Effective decision making, and problem-solving strategies and skills are essential. The IPD Leader will manage external partner relationships and execute the IPD strategy in alignment with BC’s Compass 2028 strategy.

Job Responsibilities Expectations:

  • The IPD Enterprise Leader is expected to demonstrate excellence in leadership, deliver high-quality work products, and collaborate. This is a leadership role that requires critical thinking and decision making in a high velocity environment, strong business acumen, extraordinary talent management ability with sound, ethical character and executive presence.
  • The IPD Leader will:
    • Report to the Chief Operating Officer and participate effectively on the company’s OCOO and Executive Committee, representing the needs of IPD while prioritizing the needs of the company first.
    • Understand the IPD overall market and be a catalyst for growth supporting the broader BC’s Compass 2028 Strategy.
    • Conduct business in alignment with BC’s core values.
    • Leverage BC’s enterprise model and teams to successfully win and deliver quality work.
    • Build and sustain strong, deep and sincere relationships with internal and external clients including contracting partners
    • Direct BC’s Risk Management policies and procedures for all IPD work including commercial teaming arrangements and contracts.
    • Set strategy to develop and grow the IPD team working in collaboration with other business leaders to scale the IPD business to meet market and client demands.
    • Communicate confidently, clearly and frequently, with strong self and social awareness. Ensure proper context is set for employees to understand what needs to be done, when it needs to be done by, how it needs to be done and why it’s important.
    • Drive accountability and performance while demonstrating the ability to make tough decisions.
    • Operate with passion and optimism by inspiring others, pursue continuous improvement and innovation, demonstrate good judgement, ethical decision making, and deliver high-impact results.

    • Acquire and develop IPD talent.
    • Lead and manage the IPD leadership team to deliver agreed upon goals including financial performance, sales and growth, staff development, safety, commercial management, project performance, and enterprise collaboration.
    • Travel 30% to 50%

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • B.S. or M.S. in engineering, construction management, or a related field is required.
  • M.B.A. or similar coursework preferred.
  • Professional registration is preferred.
  • Minimum of 20 years of increasing responsibility in environmental IPD work in public and private market sectors is required.
  • Ability to demonstrate financial acumen including P&L responsibility.
  • Ability to demonstrate experience managing a large portfolio of projects with a substantial impact on the business.
  • Ability to demonstrate experience managing successfully within a matrixed/enterprise business model.
  • Ability to demonstrate experience managing at the executive level (must have led and developed other leaders).
  • Excellent knowledge of and presence in IPD industry.
  • Excellent knowledge and commercial understanding in multiple delivery models including Teaming Agreements and MOU’s, designer subcontracts, and joint ventures leveraging standard industry language
  • Experience and knowledge of market competitors and the ability to develop successful teaming partnerships and make fair and ethical deals as required to enhance our business in IPD.
  • High business acumen with the ability to lead high performing teams and drive profits for the company.

 

Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education.  These ranges may be modified in the future.

Salary:

$260,000 - $325,000
