A DAY IN THE LIFE: 

The Territory Manager – Hybrid position is directly responsible for the promotion of Tandem Diabetes products and for ensuring product education, training, and support is provided for customers within an assigned Territory. Responsible for territory business planning and achievement of sales goals. Identifies potential customers, establishes and develops business relationships to facilitate the sales of Tandem Diabetes' products and clinical services, working within the limits of established policies.  Uses industry sales and clinical expertise to provide account sales support and continuing education to people with diabetes, physicians, and healthcare professionals (HCPs) on the use of insulin pump therapy and special considerations related to pump therapy in the management of diabetes.  

  • Ensures the territory meets or exceeds company goals as established by management. 
  • Creatively and resourcefully uses available tools and resources to identify sales leads and gather the information required to determine if prospecting criteria have been satisfied  
  • Creates value for the HCPs by differentiating Tandem Diabetes Care products and services.  
  • Establishes and maintains excellent professional relationships with physicians and other HCPs to support the sale of Tandem Diabetes products /services.  
  • Provides information in a professional manner to various health care professionals (MDs, RNs, RDs, RPhs, etc.) to encourage the recommendation of Tandem products/services when indicated in the course of appropriate therapy.  
  • Effectively promotes Tandem’s unique market position, differentiating Tandem from competitors.  
  • Leads strategic business planning (i.e., forecasting and developing short term & long-term goals and objectives) for assigned Territory. 
  • Provides products/services information directly to the consumer/end user via health fairs, conventions or in conjunction with promotions.  
  • Keeps records updated in the customer relationship management software (CRM), for all business dealings within assigned territory. 
  • Collaborates with Customer Sales Support team to identify and address pre and post sales order issues, and sales lead inquiries.  
  • Attends and participates in all corporate sales training, meetings and assigned conventions and symposia. 
  • In partnership with clinical training team, coordinates patient product training referrals in the assigned territory per company policy.   May provide patient product trainings when needed.  
  • In coordination with Regional Clinical Manager, responsible for developing plans (and may provide) training for initial and ongoing recertification of contracted and non-contracted Tandem Pump Trainers in the territory. May complete product training with trainers and HCPs per company policy. 
  • Interacts with Regional Clinical Manager for guidance on technical and training issues. 
  • Responds to inbound calls or emails transferred from CTS when clinical and/or escalated support is needed. 
  • Maintains all assigned company property, equipment, records, selling aids and samples in a manner consistent with company policies. 
  • Establishes and maintains a territory call cycle that will minimize administrative time and maximize time and effort spent with customers. 
  • Prepares weekly and monthly sales reports as requested by Sales Management within required deadlines. 
  • Maintains expenses within established corporate guidelines and submits expense reports on a timely basis; exhibits personal integrity in dealing with all allowable business expenditures. 
  • Confirms completion of required training plan before assuming job responsibilities. 
  • Ensures work is performed in compliance with company policies including Privacy/PIPEDA and other regulatory, legal, and safety requirements. 

YOU’RE AWESOME AT:  

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills. 
  • Able to relate effectively with patients, referral sources and health care professionals. 
  • Proficient in pediatric and adult diabetes self-management skills, including use of insulin pumps, automated insulin delivery systems, infusion sets, continuous glucose monitoring equipment, carbohydrate counting instruction, medication management, chronic complications, and emergency management.  
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with customers to resolve issues and answer questions according to company protocols and requirements. 
  • Able to assert own ideas and persuade others through effectively consolidating, evaluating, and presenting relevant information. 
  • Skilled at promoting team cooperation and a commitment to team success. 
  • Ability to work in a fast pace, ever changing market and see change as an opportunity to improve business performance and campaign for it when necessary. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Internet with CRM software familiarity. 
  • Able to travel at least 80% in the assigned territory and work from a remote home office; must maintain valid driver’s license and required auto insurance as well as good driving record, per company policy. 
  • Ability to travel to the United States for training and business meetings. 

 YOU'LL NEED: 

  • Licensed healthcare professional (RN, RD or RPh.) 
  • Maintenance of registration and licensure. 
  • Advanced Diabetes Education Professional Credential (Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) or Board Certified, Advanced Diabetes Management (BC-ADM) certified or eligible and willingness to attain within one (1) year. 
  • 5 years of related industry sales and/or clinical diabetes experience; preferably in one or more of the following areas: diabetes, endocrinology, insulin infusion pumps, and managed care.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:  

The base pay for this position is $98,100 - $119,900 annually, with a target earning potential of $173,100 - $194,900 annually. 

Base pay will vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and may also fluctuate depending on candidate’s location and the overall job market. In addition to base pay, Tandem offers a competitive compensation package that includes equity, and a robust benefits package.
