Head of Production, VP,

BOSTON, United States

Who we are looking for

Tired of the agency rat race? If so, join a team of former agency creatives who went client-side and built a thriving in-house agency at State Street, one of the world’s most venerable financial brands.

We are looking for a skilled and resourceful leader to oversee production strategy and workflow across State Street’s brand programs, marketing campaigns, client events, videos and digital experiences. As a member of our Brand and Creative leadership team, you will be the leading voice on creative production, collaborating with teams throughout the business and with third-party partners to ensure that our work stays on strategy, on time and on budget.

You will set the vision, strategy and gold standard for how our internal teams and external partners work together to efficiently and effectively produce world-class creative that supports State Street’s brand and commercial strategies. You’ll bring deep expertise and fluency in all aspects of creative production including copywriting, visual design, print, environmental graphics, video/motion, social media and digital. Our industry moves fast and so do we. Creativity, agility, tenacity and a constructive mindset are paramount to success in this role.

You will report to the Global Head of Brand and Creative in State Street’s Global Marketing organization. Our team works four days per week at our new headquarters at Bulfinch Crossing in Boston, and one day from home.

Why this role is important to us

At State Street, our purpose is to help create better outcomes for the world’s investors and the people they serve. Every one of us — in our own way — can help make that purpose a reality. As a leading creative voice, you’ll join a team that is challenging conventions, shaping the future of investing and making a difference for our clients, our communities and each other.

If you are looking to make your mark in a vital and dynamic industry — and work with people who are creating the future of State Street — join us!

What you will be responsible for

As VP Head of Production you will:

  • Develop and implement a production strategy that supports our brand and marketing objectives, and manage stakeholders on optimal production approaches
  • Lead and mentor a small but high-performing team of project managers — one direct report and one matrix — ensuring an aligned understanding of creative vision, process and guidelines that enables Brand and Creative to deliver high-impact work
  • Oversee the planning and scheduling of production activities globally, setting efficient timelines, allocating resources and managing potential disruptions
  • Collaborate with Marketing channels, business stakeholders and vendors to ensure optimal development, execution and delivery of creative work
  • Identify and implement process improvements to optimize production efficiency and mitigate process risk while maintaining a high bar for quality
  • Maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers, ensuring timely delivery of assets, and working with Procurement to negotiate and execute contracts when necessary
  • Develop and evangelize guidelines and quality standards to ensure consistent performance, results and value across our production touchpoints
  • Co-manage the Brand and Creative budget, working with channel leadership to align prioritized initiatives, identify optimization opportunities and rigorously track spend
  • Serve as the Brand and Creative point person and subject matter expert for State Street’s planned implementation of Workfront
  • As needed, summarize the output and deliverables of the team to support performance measurement and reporting

What we value

These skills will help you succeed in this role:

  • Incomparable ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders and dependencies
  • Adept at balancing creative ideals with pragmatic production solutions
  • Innate blend of analytical and creative problem-solving abilities
  • Adept at multi-tasking, prioritizing and delegating work
  • Ability to think quickly and act decisively when it matters most
  • Ability to adapt to challenge and change, and stay calm under pressure
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate seamlessly with colleagues and leadership
  • Strong presentation skills
  • A clear passion for branding and creative work

  • 5+ years of experience leading creative production for an in-house or external agency
  • Expertise managing high-caliber brand and creative projects — e.g. comprehensive rebrand initiatives, multi-camera on-location film/video shoots, multi-day event experiences, etc.
  • Familiar with project management tools such as Asana, Monday.com, Workfront, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of risk management related to the creation of assets including production processes, lead-times, legal and compliance requirements, vendor license agreements and data privacy/security
