Job Summary

In this role, you'll underwrite moderately complex group cases, analyzing business performance, financials, and plan designs to balance customer needs with organizational risk. You’ll work independently on assigned casework, exercising judgment to create or modify offers while adhering to underwriting guidelines and insurance statutes. You'll collaborate closely with internal teams and occasionally engage with external partners. Your work will involve reviewing detailed data, making informed decisions, and utilizing negotiation skills to achieve favorable outcomes.

  • Analyze group performance, financials, and occupation mix to assess risk
  • Apply underwriting guidelines and state insurance laws to develop offers
  • Collaborate with Account Managers, Sales Partners, and Implementation teams
  • Participate in renewals and make recommendations for process improvements
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision is a requirement of the role.
  • We are targeting a salary range of $64,250 -$80,000 for this role.

Skills and Background You’ll Need

  • Must have:
    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • 2+ years of experience in disability underwriting or a similar analytical role
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform complex calculations and analyze detailed data
    • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Salesforce
    • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
    • Strong time management and customer service skills
  • Preferred:
    • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, or a related field
  • Other:
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision
    • Ability to engage effectively with both internal and external stakeholders

Please note - the salary range for this role is listed below. In addition to salary, our package includes incentive plan participation and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision and retirement benefits, as well as an initial PTO accrual of 164 hours per year. Employees also receive 11 paid holidays and 2 wellness days per year.

 

  • Eligibility to participate in an incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program and plan. Any award depends on various factors, including individual and organizational performance.

Salary Range:

$64,250.00 - $94,000.00
