Grad Intern - Biostatistics

What You Will Do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. Amgen’s 10 – 12 week internship program offers meaningful project experiences that impact patient’s lives. This internship provides the opportunity for executive and social networking events and to participate in community volunteer projects while providing a competitive compensation. Limited relocation housing and/or transportation allowance may be available for eligible candidates.

  • This position will work closely with a senior-level statistician on topics related to the design and analysis of clinical trials and/or nonclinical research.
  • Amgen research and development uses science and innovation to dramatically improve people’s lives in various therapeutic areas, including oncology, nephrology, bone metabolism, cardiovascular, and inflammation.
  • At the conclusion of the internship, this position will give a presentation summarizing the work completed during the program.

Basic Qualifications:

Amgen requires that all individuals applying for a grad internship or a co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:

  • 18 years or older
  • Graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent
  • Currently enrolled in an MBA program for an MBA internship OR a Master’s program for a Master’s internship OR a PharmD program for a PharmD internship OR Ph.D. for a PhD internship from an accredited college or university and completion of the first year of MBA OR Master’s OR Pharm D OR Ph.D. program before the internship starts
  • Enrolled in an accredited college or university following the potential internship or co-op assignment
  • Must not be employed at the time the internship starts
  • Student must be located in the United States for the duration of the internship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a PhD in Biostatistics, Statistics, or Mathematics
  • In the process of completing the third year of current program
  • Proficiency in SAS or R on either a UNIX or NT platform
  • Ability to lead and deliver results in an interactive matrixed environment
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, relationship building, and leadership skill

The base pay range for this opportunity in the U.S. is $30 - $40 per hour.
