Global Total Rewards Manager

Remote

Open Source has taken over the world of software development; however, the largest trade-off still persists: security. Companies spend an enormous amount of time and resources patching and fortifying open source software in order to ship with confidence & compliance.

Founded by the industry's leading experts on open source software, security and cloud native development, Chainguard has built the largest library of open source software that is secure by default. Customers including Snowflake, Canva, and HPE rely on Chainguard to build securely with open source software across the organization.

Chainguard is the safe source for open source.

About Us

We live and breathe our company values:

We are customer obsessed - Our true advantage is the strength of our relationships with customers through collaboration, empathy, and responsiveness.  We establish trust as we educate, advocate, and listen to their needs.  Our focus is on delivering solutions to our customers that create value and make their lives better.

We have a bias for intentional action - We’re a start-up and we need to move fast. However we need to move fast through intentional action to make sure we’re able to deliver quickly and efficiently on what is most impactful to our collective success.  We prioritize, plan, try things, and fail fast.  We think about how what we do impacts other teams and communicate our progress - owning the whole solution from start to finish. If we move fast enough, we can make two or three mistakes, learn, and correct them before competitors even make their first decision.

We don’t take ourselves too seriously (but we do serious work) - Though we are solving an important problem which takes focus and a degree of seriousness, we don’t take ourselves too seriously while we do.  We laugh, have fun, embrace uniqueness, and enjoy the journey. Together.

We trust each other and assume good intentions - We hire great team members and trust them to do their work. We’re transparent with data, news, and decisions - positive or negative - to empower team members to make well informed decisions. Showing up for each other fully means we celebrate each other’s accomplishments as well as give compassionate direct feedback when needed.  We always default to assuming good intentions.

The Role, In a Nutshell:

Are you passionate about designing strategic compensation and benefits programs that attract, retain, and motivate top talent? Do you thrive in high-growth environments where you can drive strategic transformation?

At Chainguard, we’re scaling rapidly, and we need a Global Total Rewards Manager to ensure our compensation, benefits, and incentive programs align with our growth and talent strategies.

This role is more than just maintaining rewards programs—it’s about continuously evolving them to meet business needs and market trends. You will play a pivotal role in benchmarking and maintaining competitive compensation structures, administering benefits programs, and designing incentive and bonus plans that drive engagement and performance.

This is more than a rewards role—it’s a strategic position with a significant impact on Chainguard’s future. If you have deep expertise in total rewards, operations, compliance, and change management, this is an opportunity to make a massive impact.

If you thrive in fast-paced environments, love data-driven decision-making, and are excited about building scalable total rewards strategies, we’d love to hear from you!

What You’ll Do:

  • Compensation & Benchmarking: Conduct market analysis and benchmarking to maintain competitive compensation bands that attract and retain top talent.
  • Benefits Program Administration: Oversee global benefits programs, including health, wellness, and retirement plans, ensuring they align with company culture and employee needs.
  • Incentive & Bonus Plans: Design, implement, and manage incentive and bonus programs that drive performance and align with business goals.
  • Compliance & Governance: Ensure total rewards programs comply with global labor laws, tax regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Data & Insights: Leverage data analytics to evaluate the effectiveness of total rewards programs and make data-driven recommendations for improvement.
  • Employee Experience & Communication: Partner with People Operations and internal stakeholders to enhance communication around compensation, benefits, and recognition programs.
  • Vendor & Partner Management: Work closely with external providers, brokers, and consultants to optimize total rewards offerings.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 5+ years of experience in Compensation, Benefits, or Total Rewards in a global organization.
  • Expertise in compensation benchmarking, salary structures, and job leveling frameworks.
  • Experience managing benefits programs across multiple countries, including working with Employer of Record (EOR) service and building processes to support global expansion and remote workforce compliance.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency with HRIS, compensation tools and modeling.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
  • Knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements related to compensation and benefits globally.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams.
  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset with a passion for creating total rewards programs to drive high performance.
  • A builder’s mindset—passionate about creating scalable people infrastructure to support hypergrowth.

Why You’ll Love It Here:

  • Impact & Ownership: You’ll have the autonomy to design and shape our global total rewards strategy.
  • Fast-Paced Growth: We’re scaling quickly, and you’ll be at the center of designing competitive and future-ready compensation and benefits programs.
  • People-First Culture: We prioritize employee well-being and create programs that reflect that commitment.
  • Collaboration & Trust: You’ll work cross-functionally with leadership, finance, and people teams to drive strategic initiatives.
