The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Material Planning Director, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Establishing the strategy and developing the systems for material planning for an extensive internal and external supply base
  • Driving improvements to ensure the right materials are available at the right time and in the correct quantities to meet production demands
  • Collaborating cross functionally with procurement, operations, and logistics to forecast needs and schedule deliveries minimizing production downtime and optimizing efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers in collaboration with procurement to resolve concerns and evaluate performance

Your Skills and Expertise 
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
  • Ten (10) years as a supply chain professional, with a focus on senior-level tasks in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management or Operations Management or a related field from an accredited institution
  • Ten (10) years as a material planner, with a focus on senior-level tasks in a private, public, government or military environment in a private, public, government or military environment
  • Knowledge of Supply Planning (SP), Production Planning (PP), Demand Planning (DP) and/or Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) processes
  • Experience working on cross-functional and international teams
  • APICS (American Production and Inventory Control Society) certification
  • SAP Experience
  • Skills include strong communication and presentation skills, Ability to lead and work with cross-functional teams, Adept at queries, report writing, and presenting findings, data driven, results oriented, accountable for results
  • Energetic with a demonstrated sense of urgency

Work location:

  • Work Your Way Eligible (Employee choice to work remote, on site, or hybrid)

Travel: May include up to 25% domestic &/or international

Applicable to US Applicants Only:The expected compensation range for this position is $222,044 - $271,387, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience.
