Finance Sr Specialist ESG/Sustainability

Job Description

The Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Senior Financial Sr. Specialist position is a newly created role that will work with multi-functional teams across the organization in supporting the company’s sustainability strategy & initiatives.  The position will be highly collaborative, providing financial planning & analysis and decision-making support through cross-functional engagement with various departments throughout the company, including Global Safety Environment, Global Engineering Solutions, GWES, Procurement, ESG Strategy and Engagement team, Internal Audit, Treasury, IT, Finance, Environmental Sustainability, Corporate Responsibility Access, and Engagement Group.  This position will also play a pivotal role in supporting internal and external ESG reporting efforts related to financial quantification of data while ensuring our company's is in alignment with the dynamic and continuously evolving landscape of ESG regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed reports on financial performance related to sustainability initiatives, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

  • Integrate financial data with environmental performance metrics to provide a comprehensive view of project effectiveness and financial outcomes.

  • Oversee the financial aspects of sustainability projects, including coordinating with project teams, tracking progress, and ensuring alignment with financial goals.

  • Support strategic decision-making by providing financial insights into sustainability strategies and helping to align financial goals with sustainability objectives.

  • Communicate financial implications of sustainability projects to internal stakeholders, including project teams for further escalation.

  • Identify and assess financial risks associated with sustainability projects and develop strategies to mitigate risk.

  • Ensure that all financial practices related to sustainability projects comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies.

  • Identify opportunities for improving financial processes related to sustainability and implement best practices for financial management in environmental projects.

  • Execute sustainability projects and assess the cost component associated with the Net Zero Portfolio and the Renewable Energy Strategy.

  • Conduct financial analyses to evaluate the feasibility and potential financial benefits of entering into VPPAs, including assessing the financial impact, projected cost savings, potential revenue streams, and associated risks.

  • Maintain and provide guidance on widely used financial modeling template which integrates sustainability considerations into financial planning and decision-making processes.

  • Track expenditures and forecast future financial needs for current projects that support sustainability goals.

Minimum Requirements/Keys to Success:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance

  • 3-5 years of financial reporting and financial planning experience

  • Familiarity or experience with ESG financial planning & reporting and sustainability standards would be advantageous.

  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy, ability to react to changes, and work effectively in high-pressure situations.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in complex environments, drive change, and build collaborative relationships.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a cross-functional and dynamic environment.

U.S. Hybrid Work Model

Effective September 5, 2023, employees in office-based positions in the U.S. will be working a Hybrid work consisting of three total days on-site per week, Monday - Thursday, although the specific days may vary by site or organization, with Friday designated as a remote-working day, unless business critical tasks require an on-site presence.This Hybrid work model does not apply to, and daily in-person attendance is required for, field-based positions; facility-based, manufacturing-based, or research-based positions where the work to be performed is located at a Company site; positions covered by a collective-bargaining agreement (unless the agreement provides for hybrid work); or any other position for which the Company has determined the job requirements cannot be reasonably met working remotely. The Company is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this job in certain states and cities within the United States. Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate’s relevant skills, experience, and education.

Expected US salary range:

$101,100.00 - $159,100.00
