Federal Business Developer and Proposal Writer

Note: This is a 100% remote role for people based in Washington, D.C. Metro Area – D.C., Maryland, Virginia

About the role:

This position offers flexibility and can be structured as full-time or part-time based on your preference. Attending occasional conferences and networking events predominately in the DMV area is expected. These events are more frequent during the spring and early summer, known as the "busy season." There may be weeks where you attend up to three events, while some months may have no events at all. Attendance is often strategically planned around customers of focus.

The ideal candidate will be adept at both identifying and developing new business opportunities within the federal sector and crafting strategic, compelling RFP and RFI responses that tell a cohesive story.

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the federal space
• Conduct outreach and build relationships with potential clients and stakeholders
• Develop and write clear, persuasive, and articulate proposals tailored to federal requirements
• Collaborate with internal teams to gather necessary information and insights for proposals
• Customize proposals based on client requirements, industry trends, and competitive analysis
• Manage the proposal process from inception to timely submission, ensuring all deadlines are met
• Review and edit proposal content to ensure quality, consistency, and alignment with client needs
• Conduct thorough research on competitors and potential clients
• Develop strategic plans for proposal development and business growth

Required skills:

• Business Development: 3+ years of experience in a federal contracting environment, with a track record of securing government contracts and fostering long-term client relationships.
• Federal Proposal Writing: 2+ years of hands-on experience crafting compliant and compelling proposals for federal clients, demonstrating a deep understanding of federal acquisition regulations and requirements.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a strong ability to tell a compelling story
• Strong business development and negotiation abilities, with the ability to speak off-script when discussing client needs and recommending IT, creative, or PM services
• Proficiency in CRM software applications such as Unanet CRM
• In-depth understanding of federal sales processes and strategies
• Ability to conduct strategic planning and opportunity analysis
• Highly analytical and an independent problem solver
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams

Salary Range: $110.000 - $177.000 per year
